US President Donald Trump and Prime Minister Narendra Modi are likely to hold a bilateral meeting on the sidelines of the G7 Summit in France on June 16-17, 2026, sources said.
Both leaders are expected to be in France for the summit, which is being held in Evian, creating an opportunity for a face-to-face interaction. However, the meeting has not been confirmed yet and will depend on the finalisation of their respective schedules and engagements during the summit.
The possible meeting comes as Modi embarks on a six-day visit to France and Slovakia from June 13 to 18. According to a government release, PM Modi will visit French city Nice on June 13-14 for bilateral talks with French President Emmanuel Macron, during which the two leaders will review the entire spectrum of India-France ties under their recently elevated Special Global Strategic Partnership.
The Prime Minister and Macron will also jointly inaugurate the 'Bharat Innovates' event in Nice, bringing together leading startups and venture capital funds from India, France and other countries as part of the India-France Year of Innovation.
PM Modi will then travel to Slovakia on June 14-16 for a State Visit at the invitation of Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico. The visit will be the first by an Indian Prime Minister to Slovakia since the country's independence in 1993. During the visit, PM is scheduled to hold talks with Fico and meet Slovak President Peter Pellegrini to explore avenues for cooperation in areas including trade, investment, automobile manufacturing and railway infrastructure.
Returning to France, PM Modi will participate in the G7 Summit on June 16-17 at the invitation of President Macron. During the summit, he is expected to engage with G7 leaders, partner countries and international organisations on issues including global partnerships, sustainable economic growth and the safe deployment of artificial intelligence. On the sidelines of the summit, he is also expected to hold several bilateral meetings with world leaders.
Following the summit, PM Modi will travel to Paris on June 18 for further engagements, including participation in the VivaTech Summit, Europe's largest technology and startup event. He is also expected to interact with members of the Indian diaspora in the French capital.
The visit is aimed at deepening India's partnerships with France, Slovakia and the G7 nations, while highlighting India's growing role in global innovation, digital transformation and international policymaking. Sources said a meeting between PM Modi and Trump, if scheduled, would be among the key bilateral engagements on the margins of the summit.
