This marks the first time Stanton directs a film in the "Toy Story" series, but he has contributed to the scripts on each installment.

The sequel sees characters old and new, as well as new behind-the-scenes players, with a fresh pair of songwriters brought in to replace Lin-Manuel Miranda.
