Over the last couple of weeks, Toy Story Land in Disney’s Hollywood Studios has become a huge hit with Disney fans and theme park goers.

Its three attractions — Toy Story Mania, Slinky Dog Dash, and Alien Swirling Saucers — are exciting, whimsical and completely transport guests into the immersive world of Andy’s backyard. Even the quick service restaurant, Woody’s Lunchbox, is lots of fun and full of delicious dining food and beverage options.

But did you know that there are other Toy Story Lands across the globe?

Here’s how the newest version compares to its predecessors:

Walt Disney Studios Park in the Disneyland Paris Resort

Toy Story Playland has completely different attractions. Heather Concannon

Walt Disney Studios Park in part of the Disneyland Paris Resort located in Marne-la-Vallée, France. The park is home to the very first Toy Story Land, called "Toy Story Playland."

I had the chance to visit Toy Story Playland when I traveled to the park. The theming feels identical to Toy Story Land in Disney World with its larger life statues and whimsical strands of lights illuminating the land.

However, this version of the land has completely different attractions — RC Racer, Slinky Dog Zigzag Spin, and Toy Soldiers Parachute Drop.

The Soldiers Parachute Drop. Disney

RC Racer towers over Toy Story Playland at 25 meters. It’s a speedy and thrilling journey up and down a steep half-pipe coaster aboard a massive remote controlled car. Although this ride reminded me a lot of attractions you’d find at a boardwalk or carnival, I really enjoyed it.

In my opinion, Disney World definitely got the better Slinky-themed ride option. Walt Disney Studios Park Slinky-themed circular coaster is far tamer than Disney World’s Slinky Dog Dash. It’s a great ride for families, but definitely not as thrilling as the Slinky Dog Dash.

The Toy Soldiers Parachute Drop offers riders with a gorgeous view from 82 feet up, as they glide back down to earth. It’s a nice ride, but nothing spectacular.

Overall, the attractions in Toy Story Playland are not as thrilling as those in Disney World’s Toy Story Land.

Hong Kong Disneyland Resort

It's very similar to Toy Story Playland in Paris. Heather Concannon

A couple of years later, Toy Story Land opened in Hong Kong Disneyland.

Although the land feels different set up against the gorgeous landscape of Lantau Island, this version of Toy Story Land looks almost identical to the Toy Story Playland area in Paris.

Toy Story Land has the same exact three rides: RC Racer, Slinky Dog Spin, and Toy Soldier Parachute Drop. Same thrills (or lack thereof) and same kind of experience.

It also has a unique talking robot called Cubot. Heather Concannon

Although the attractions and aesthetic are the same as Disneyland Paris, Hong Kong Disneyland is home to a unique entertainment experience called, Cubot.

Unfortunately, I did not get to see Cubot when I was in Hong Kong, but from my understanding, Cubot is a talking toy robot made of different blocks, that interacts with you based on how you put and piece him together. Pretty neat technology.

Although there are plenty of theming similarities to Disney World, the biggest similarity I saw in Hong Kong’s version is its lack of shade. Although Florida is known for heat and humidity during the summer months, I promise you it is nothing compared to Hong Kong during the summer.

Shanghai Disneyland Resort

It opened shortly before the one in Hollywood Studios did. Disney

Disney Pixar Toy Story Land opened in Shanghai Disneyland just a few short months before Toy Story Land opened in Disney’s Hollywood Studios.

I missed the opening of Disney Pixar Toy Story Land by a couple of months. However, based on my research, it appears that this Toy Story themed area adopts classics from the other parks, but also has some new elements.

Disney Pixar Toy Story Land has some the same attractions as Disneyland Paris and Hong Kong Disney, such as the Slinky Dog Spin and the RC Racer — although in Shanghai, the RC Racer is called Rex’s Racer.

They do have a brand new attraction, Woody’s Roundup, that you cannot find in any other Disney park. Riders swing, swirl and slide around in carts to a variety of country music selections. It sounds like lots of fun and similar to Mater’s Junkyard Jamboree in Disney’s California Adventure.

It has a huge indoor toy store. Disney

The biggest difference besides the addition of Woody’s Roundup is that Shanghai Disneyland actually has a huge indoor store, Al’s Toy Barn. The store is a replica of the store featured in "Toy Story 2" and full of unique souvenirs and mementos.

I think this is such a cool addition that enhances the themes of "Toy Story." I wish Disney’s Hollywood Studios would have included Al’s Toy Barn instead of the two carts. But Disney World is not alone. Disneyland Paris Resort and the Hong Kong Disneyland Resort do not have indoor stores either.

The Toy Box Cafe in Disney Pixar Toy Story Land has a host of dining options including Alien spicy seafood pizza and more traditional Chinese cuisine like Gong Bao chicken with rice. Although I enjoyed my experience dining at Woody’s Lunchbox, the Toy Box Cafe sounds absolutely delicious with a wider variety of more exotic food.

Overall, each Toy Story themed land offers different attractions and experiences. Although many beloved attractions from around the world do not appear in the newest Toy Story Land in Disney’s Hollywood Studios, we definitely have our own unique Toy Story experience in the states which should be visited.
