IBM Project Debater - Open to Debate (original) (raw)

IBM Project Debater

IBM’s Project Debater is the first-ever AI system designed to meaningfully engage with humans in a debate. First created in 2012 in IBM Research’s lab in Haifa, Israel, Project Debater scans billions of sentences to generate a position on any given topic. Project Debater is not connected to the internet and relies on three pioneering capabilities: the first is data-driven speechwriting and delivery, or the ability to generate and deliver a persuasive speech. The second is listening comprehension, or the ability to understand a human’s argument and, in turn, construct a rebuttal. And the third is the ability to form principled arguments based on Project Debater’s unique knowledge graph.
