Best Wireless and Wired Call Boxes (original) (raw)
Our Wireless Call Box Outdoor Intercoms offer an extensive range of features beyond what we highlight on their respective product pages. With multiple models available, each boasting a wide array of capabilities, it can be overwhelming to navigate all the options. To simplify your decision, we have streamlined the configurations to meet the needs of most users. If you require only a basic intercom-style call box, we recommend sticking with the basic configuration as outlined on our product pages.
However, for those with special requirements, here is a detailed rundown of the additional capabilities you can access with our Callbox:
Two-Way Radio Compatibility: If you have existing two-way business radios, the Callbox can be programmed to be compatible with almost any brand of VHF or UHF business band radio. Choose either the UHF or VHF model based on your frequency range. We handle the programming for you, and many frequencies require an FCC license, except for the license-free MURS frequency.
Extended Range: If you need to cover greater distances than the wireless call box allows, you can extend the range by adding an external antenna. In the FCC-licensed frequency range, radio repeaters can further extend this range.
Solar Power Option: An optional solar power unit enables the Callbox to operate for several days on a single sunny day.
External Strobe Light: An optional strobe light can be added and controlled remotely, providing a visual alert.
Voice Message Storage: Certain Callbox models can store a voice message that plays when someone presses the button. This message can provide specific instructions to the caller and send a different alert to the monitoring location or portable radios. This could include the callbox's location or an emergency message.
Location Identification: If you use multiple callboxes, each can transmit a unique numeric identifier to a compatible radio, similar to Caller ID. Some of our Commercial Intercom and Two-Way Radios have this decoding ability and can be programmed to the same frequencies as the Callbox.
Motion Detection and Alerts: Some Callbox models allow for the addition of a motion detector or other detection devices, sending alerts when activated. Depending on the model, these alerts can be tones or custom voice messages. If the alert is not answered immediately, it will be resent up to five times. An external sensor can also automatically put the unit into full power mode when someone is detected nearby, allowing calls to be made.
Audio Monitoring: Certain models let you use the callbox microphone to monitor the surrounding sounds.
Low Battery and Power Failure Alerts: All models have alerts for low battery or external power failure, sending a tone to the monitoring portable radio or base intercom.
Paging Feature: This allows selective calling of individual callboxes or a group of callboxes simultaneously.
Busy Channel Feature: Prevents transmission if someone else is using the radio channel, ensuring clear communication.
Entry Keypad with Relay: One model includes an entry keypad that allows users to enter a code to open a gate or door. Monitoring personnel can also remotely open the gate.
