Ugly scenes as groups brawl in Dublin pub before FAI Cup final (original) (raw)
There were ugly scenes on Sunday afternoon in the lead up to the FAI Cup final - as a group of St Patrick's Athletic fans were attacked at the Irishtown House pub.
Bottles were thrown and fireworks were lit outside the bar, which is close to the Aviva Stadium where today's FAI Cup final is taking place between St Pats and Bohemians.
In the shocking video, taken by a member of the public driving alongside the Dublin 4 pub, a number of punches are thrown as groups converge together.
A large group of St Pats fans were gathering at the bar before the 4pm kick-off.
Towards the end of the short clip, a flare is lit and thrown on the ground.
A Garda spokesperson told the Irish Mirror: "An Garda Síochána is aware of an incident that occurred on the afternoon of Sunday, 28th November, 2021, on the Irishtown Road, Dublin 4.
"Order was quickly restored by Gardaí who attended the scene. Investigations into this matter are ongoing."
The game has had a huge focus in recent days as it set an attendance record at the Aviva for an FAI Cup final.
