Search for missing flight MH370 'entering a new phase'

Australian Prime Minister Tony Abbott has said the search for missing flight MH370 is now "entering a new phase". He said the effort would now be "focussed on searching the ocean floor" over a "much larger area" than is currently being covered.

The UK is sending HMS Echo to assist in the search for Malaysia Airlines flight MH370, the Ministry of Defence has confirmed.

The coastal survey vessel will help search in the southern corridor, as the multinational operation to find the flight which has been missing since March 8 continues.

Twenty-nine aircrafts, 18 ships and six ship-borne helicopters have been deployed to the northern and southern corridors.
