Commemorative coin in connection with the 50th anniversary of HM The Queen’s accession to the throne (original) (raw)
On the coin’s front is a new portrait of The Queen crafted by the sculptor Kathrine S. Moseholm. The portrait is in profile facing to the right. It is inspired by paper clippings and stems from the minimalist sculpture tradition.
On the back, there is an organic pattern created by the number 50 as a symbol of the jubilee. The pattern creates a visual reference to Amalienborg’s four palaces and the palace square. The back motif was prepared by the National Bank’s design director, Jeanette Skov Jensen.
The commemorative coin is issued in three versions: a 500 DKK silver coin, a 20 DKK coin for ordinary circulation and a 20 DKK coin on which the motif appears extra sharp.
The coins can be purchased via the Royal Danish Mint’s web shop starting 14 January 2022.
