Opening of exhibition at the Amalienborg Museum
On 21 January 2022, HM The Queen, The Crown Prince Couple and HRH Princess Benedikte attended the opening of the special exhibition “A Queen’s Jewelry Box – 50 years on the throne told through jewelry” at the Amalienborg Museum in Christian VIII’s Palace. The exhibition is part of the celebration of the 50-year jubilee of The Queen’s accession to the throne, and the opening to have taken place on 13 January 2022, but was postponed as a consequence of COVID-19.

The official portion of the exhibition opening took place in the Garden Hall, where the director of the Royal Danish Collection, cabinet secretary Henning Fode, and museum director Thomas C. Thulstrup gave the opening speeches. After the remarks, the Band of the Royal Life Guards performed a musical feature written for the occasion.

Opening of exhibition at the Amalienborg Museum
The exhibition displays more than 200 well-known and lesser-known pieces of jewelry from Her Majesty’s jewelry collection, all of which refer to one or more private or official events during The Queen’s 50-year reign. In the photo, the Royal Family is seen in the exhibition room “The inheritance from mother”, which focuses on jewelry that has a special relation to Queen Ingrid.

The Queen has voiced an audio guide, which is provided to visitors. In it, Her Majesty tells about selected pieces of jewelry and events. The exhibition is open to the public from Saturday, 22 January until 23 October 2022.
