LIINC - Long-term Impact of Infection with Novel Coronavirus (original) (raw)

The Long-term Impact of Infection with Novel Coronavirus (LIINC) study is a collaborative research effort led by the University of California. It aims to understand the long-term effects of COVID-19 on immunity and different organ systems by studying recovered patients.

Adults (18 years+) who have had at least one confirmed SARS-CoV-2 infection or a suspected infection according to the World Health Organization criteria and are able to attend in-person visits 2-3 times per year at our research center at the Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital campus are eligible to participate.

Interested individuals will undergo a phone screen, and if eligible, will attend an in-person Baseline Visit to sign consent forms, answer detailed questionnaires about their health and COVID-19 history, and undergo a blood draw. Follow-up visits occur roughly every 6 months and involve a brief questionnaire and a blood draw.

Participants will receive 50forcompletingtheBaselineVisitand50 for completing the Baseline Visit and 50forcompletingtheBaselineVisitand25 for each follow-up visit.

After the initial Baseline Visit, participants are expected to visit the research center every 6 months for follow-up assessments.

During each follow-up visit, participants will complete a brief questionnaire and undergo a blood draw to help researchers assess the ongoing effects of COVID-19 on their health.

Participation typically lasts around two years, during which participants may be asked to attend several follow-up visits to track changes in their health post-recovery.
