- Short-weekly staff meetings are a good starting point to provide the team with a forum to discuss their best practices and any potential project-related issues. Once a month, have an off-site lunch and learn, where a different staff member presents their best productivity tips and tricks. Expect to get some great tool/menu short cuts and standardization procedures from staff at lunch and learn sessions. Provide the opportunity for either professional on-line or in-person training, when necessary, plus give staff the opportunity to practice topics covered in GIS software upgrade training. Don't fear cross training your staff, even they're against it.
- To maximize GIS training sessions, I tailor the curriculum to align with the team's specific goals and projects, ensuring relevance. Hands-on exercises that simulate real-world scenarios help solidify practical skills. Providing follow-up resources, such as tutorials and support, encourages continued learning and application. This approach ensures the team effectively absorbs and applies new GIS knowledge.
