The mission of the American Red Cross is to prevent and alleviate human suffering in the face of emergencies by mobilizing the power of volunteers and the generosity of donors. The Gold Country Region of the American Red Cross serves a 24-county area with a total population of more than four million people. Headquartered in the California State Capital of Sacramento, the Capital Region covers a territory consisting of urban to rural, mountains to valley flatlands, and everything in between. We are dedicated to providing exemplary service when delivering the Red Cross mission to our constituents.

On Friday, Nov. 8 we presented our Hands-Only CPR course in Spanish to 37 members of Asociacion Los Parientes. We will go back and offer two Be Red Cross Ready presentations in December and January! Thanks to all who participated!

Today marks six years since the start of the #CampFire in Butte County - the deadliest wildfire in state history. We give immense thanks to the hundreds of Red Cross volunteers who stood beside those who were displaced by the fire to help and comfort them in and out of our shelters. Many of those volunteers lived in Butte County - and many more came from around the region and even across the country to help. Here is the story of Bonnie and Chip who stayed at one of our shelters during the first days of the fire.
