- Rhode Island– and New York City–based AD PRO Directory firm Moore House Design transforms a retreat near Telluride for soaking in the mountain magic. “The first feeling I had about the home was that it was eclectic in its layout yet bold in its stance. We wanted the materials inside to emulate these two feelings,” notes Blair Moore, who followed no rules when pairing electric velvets from Pierre Frey with soft block prints by Temple Studio, or specifying aged French limestone flooring upstairs and American white oak downstairs. And while she kept the orange logs that characterized the walls and ceilings, she reimagined them in rich chocolate to mirror the tones and textures of the trees outside. “We worked to balance rugged Telluride charm with the polished, effortless cool of their Los Angeles lifestyle.” Take the tour 👉 https://lnkd.in/g44cqtuE

- The kitchen has been the darling of interior design aficionados for quite some time. Over the years, AD has featured thousands of kitchens in its pages, speaking to a litany of different tastes in the process. We've gathered 49 of our personal archival favorites. Altogether, they represent a wide swath of this stylistic gambit—from exuberant and pattern-wrapped to clean-lined and contemporary. See all of our favorites 👉 https://lnkd.in/gfNgrGj6
- Katie Martinez gives a historic 1807 home in Boston’s North Shore a looser, lived-in quality While she loved old homes, Martinez later learned that this one was on another level. Known as the Martin Keith House, the residence stood for two centuries on a historic plot in Middleborough, nearly 90 minutes away, before it was rescued from demolition and disassembled, its planks and boards relocated to a Cape Cod barn for safekeeping in 1990 by a descendant of the original architect and builder. In 1995, an artist purchased the remains and carefully reconstructed the old house on the Ipswich site using sepia-tinged photographs, postcards, and news clippings, replacing a fire-damaged kitchen and adding a garage and studio. - The Arizona-born, Manhattan-based #AD100 designer Amy Lau has died. Known for her warm, visually arresting interiors, her work represented an effortless synergy between art and design. Despite Lau’s formal training and sophisticated experience in the decorative arts, her projects have no hint of arrogance. Instead, there is a perpetual joyfulness in their designs, one that can only come from someone whose creativity is firmly rooted in the earth and inspired by its spectacular spectrum. As Lau herself once wrote: “I see nature as a friend and teacher, a mentor who shaped my imagination early on and continues to inform my interior design work.” Read more at 👉 https://lnkd.in/gJZU5cuu
- In Upstate New York, the photo stylist Mieke ten Have turned her unerring eye to design. After successful stints at Domino, Vogue, and Elle Decor, rising through the editorial ranks from covering the market to scouting and producing home shoots, she went out on her own in 2017. Her acclaim has been such that her first book, Interiors Styled by Mieke ten Have, was recently published by Vendome Press. This house, owned by her upstate New York neighbors Coco and Tim Quinlan, proves that ten Have can create beauty in three dimensions as handily as she does in two, and that she can conjure her own vision as effectively as she interprets the work of others. The project came about when the Quinlans reached out to her while struggling with the redesign of their country house. Tour the home 👉 https://lnkd.in/edMU5z3j
- For the globe-trotting star Paloma Elsesser, being home feels like a vacation Supermodel and body advocate Paloma Elsesser grew up in a multigenerational home in Mid-City, Los Angeles. “My grandparents lived downstairs. We lived upstairs. The house that I grew up in is the house my mom grew up in,” she recalls of the lively, at times chaotic backdrop that was her safe haven. She wanted to create something similar for herself: a place where friends and family could crash, a place with history. Elsesser found it in 2021—a 1905 town house in Bed-Stuy, Brooklyn. “I walked in and I didn’t even have to go upstairs,” she recalls. “I just knew—I saw a vision for my life in this home.” To make her vision a reality, she called on Gregory Rockwell and Hester Hodde of Gregory Rockwell Interiors. - Tapped by a young client, Darren Jett alludes to movies, music, and design marvels of the recent past. To woo their clients, decorators regularly come equipped with fabric swatches, tile samples, and other tactile hints at rooms to come. Darren Jett goes for an even more full-sensory experience. As part of his presentations, the designer prepares a soundtrack that embodies not only the interiors he’s envisioning but also the lifestyle he hopes unfolds there. In the case of the Manhattan loft that he recently renovated for finance executive Christopher Chiou, that playlist included disco hits, underground dance tracks, and George Michael classics—songs that capture urbane gay abandon. “Every project should feel like a movie,” Jett reflects. “This character felt close to my world. I knew his plot.” Take the tour 👉 https://lnkd.in/er4_upMB
