At The Coca-Cola Company, we’re focused on digital capability development. For my team, it’s a great example of work we’re doing to balance our "strong arm" (strengths) and “weak arm” (skills to develop). Across our Technical, Innovation & Supply Chain network, we’re upskilling in areas like artificial intelligence, as this technology continues to push us to move and learn as quickly as it evolves. One example is how we’re leveraging robots in our manufacturing plants. Robots have been used in manufacturing for a long time, but today’s robots enabled with #AI can do so much more. At our recent Growth EXPO event, I was delighted to introduce our new colleague, Spot, in person. As part of our Commercial Products Supply (CPS) operations in France, this robot integration with Boston Dynamics is being used for predictive maintenance for increased equipment uptime. As you’ll see in this video, Spot is equipped with sensors to help with thermal inspection, gauge reading, acoustic imaging and data insights. It’s already playing a vital role in our operations. It's incredible to see how technological advancements help us do routine tasks in innovative ways, enhancing both efficiency and effectiveness in our manufacturing plants. I didn’t anticipate learning from a yellow, four-legged robot dog named Spot, but it sure does make building up my “weak arm” more interesting!

Why build a humanoid robot? Because the world is designed for humans, including all the best Halloween costumes! We don’t believe humanoid robots should be limited by looking or moving exactly like people, but there’s big advantages to a robot that can fit in as well as stand out. We designed Atlas to be capable, intelligent, and robust, so even when a pesky pickle moves a dolly, the robot can autonomously recognize its new position and complete its task.
Atlas is autonomously moving engine covers between supplier containers and a mobile sequencing dolly, using an ML vision model to detect and localize the environment fixtures and individual bin. There are no prescribed or teleoperated movements; Atlas detects and reacts to changes in the environment.
