About us

The City of Sunny Isles Beach was incorporated on June 16, 1997. Sunny Isles Beach operates on a Commission/City Manager form of government. The commission consists of a mayor and four commissioners who serve as the policy-making body of the city. The city manager ensures that policies, directives, resolutions and ordinances adopted by the city commission are enforced and implemented. The city manager is also charged with the daily operations of the city. The city's dedicated team of employees throughout various departments ensure that our city runs efficiently and is responsive to the needs of our residents and visitors. Sunny Isles Beach has sustained financial stability throughout the years, while maintaining high quality levels of service, thanks to fiscal prudence and great leadership. Located on a barrier island in northeast Miami-Dade County, Florida, the city is bounded by the Atlantic Ocean on the east and the Intracoastal Waterway on the west. A Grade-A School, numerous green spaces and parks, weekly community events and programs, and a beautiful, ocean-side location are just a few of the reasons the residential population continues to grow. Almost one million vacationers visit Sunny Isles Beach annually to enjoy the 2 mile-long, fine sand beach, luxury hotels, and abundant shopping and dining options.

Congratulations to: • Lasabrylia Ware, our Employee of the Year, for her exceptional work ethic and positive attitude in supporting every department. As an HR Analyst, Lasabrylia has made a lasting impact throughout the city. • Marco Sanchez, who was presented with The City Manager’s Award. Marco, Senior IT Analyst, is the first part-time employee to receive this honor. He consistently goes above and beyond to assist all departments with IT-related issues. • Yael Londono, who received The City Manager’s Achievement Award. As HR & Risk Management Director, Yael has revolutionized our recruitment and hiring processes with innovative strategies and has been instrumental in helping the Police Department with recruitment. I am incredibly proud to be part of this team and grateful for their continued commitment to serving our Sunny Isles Beach community.
