- Come join us for today's Deep Dive on the intersection of antisemitism and racism!
Antisemitism is often overlooked when discussing the central categories of intersectionality as it is frequently seen as merely a sub-category of racism. This prevents a full understanding of its complexity and has often led to the exclusion of Jewish voices in feminist or anti-racist movements. We therefore want to take a closer look at an intersectional approach to understanding antisemitism. For this, we have invited Dov Wilker from AJC's Atlanta Black/Jewish Coalition and ISD's Resident Senior Fellow and expert on anti-muslim hate Zahed Amanullah for our next CCOA Deep Dive "(Anti-muslim) Racism and Antisemitism" on the 3rd of September, 16:30-17:30 CEST. You can sign up for the session here: https://lnkd.in/eaUD_uaF

New CCOA publication📢: Research Compilation on Online Antisemitism Antisemitism has a deep-rooted history in modern thought. With the rise of social media, it has not only found new methods for dissemination but also adopted a new vernacular. Extremist actors now use coded or implicit language to circumvent content moderation and further mainstream their messages. Global crises have added to the threat landscape for Jewish communities, including the COVID pandemic and the 7 October Hamas attack in Israel. Like many forms of hate, antisemitic worldviews have been turbocharged by social media, enabling them to reach new audiences across the world. As Jewish communities globally have experienced, online antisemitism does not stay online, but can translate into offline forms of extreme violence, such as attacks on Jewish targets in Pittsburgh, Poway, Halle, Paris, Toulouse, Brussels and many more. This compilation presents ISD’s research on antisemitism across various actors – extreme right, Islamist, far left, radicalised conspiracy movements and mainstream communities. By synthesising ISD’s findings from years of tracking antisemitism in different geographies and languages, this resource aims to provide a summary of relevant literature. Full report is now available on our website.https://lnkd.in/dTy423-n https://lnkd.in/dHn-bdpf

Research-Compilation-on-Online-Antisemitism_.pdf isdglobal.org - The Coalition to Counter Online Antisemitism (CCOA) is delighted to announce the upcoming development of a Policy Roadmap titled “Mainstreaming (Digital) Human Rights in 2024.” Throughout the year, our discussions within the CCOA have highlighted several critical areas in the fight against online antisemitism that require further attention: -Tackling the normalization of extremist antisemitism. -Exploring the intersections with other forms of hate. -Expanding research to include multiple languages and underrepresented regions. -Leveraging evolving technologies for more effective analysis. -Conducting multi-modal studies to gain a comprehensive understanding. -Strengthening civil society’s voice through cross-sector collaboration. -Developing robust methodologies for holding platforms accountable. -Integrating research findings into national strategies and educational initiatives. To advance these discussions and contribute to the implementation of the EU strategy on combating antisemitism and fostering Jewish life, the CCOA is developing a policy roadmap and organizing a conference titled “Mainstreaming (Digital) Human Rights: A Unified Approach to Countering Online Antisemitism Beyond 2024.” This event will take place from November 25-27 in Warsaw, Poland (save the date, registration link will follow) in collaboration with the POLIN Museum of the History of Polish Jews. The conference will culminate in finalizing the CCOA Policy Roadmap, which will then be presented to the European Commission. For the latter half of 2024, CCOA is excited to introduce the “Mainstreaming (Digital) Human Rights” program. Discussions with members will continuesly feed into the roadmap throughout the next months. This program will extend the ongoing deep dives and include expert sessions, workshops, and a webinar series exploring the intersectionalities of hate, delving into the overlaps between antisemitism and various forms of hate, such as (anti-Muslim) racism, misogyny, anti-LGBTQ+ hate, classism, and ableism. A key focus is to create safer spaces for dialogue, ensuring a transparent and inclusive approach in shaping the Roadmap. Take a look! You’re welcome to register for the sessions through the links provided in the program.https://lnkd.in/djczXEwE https://lnkd.in/dbzPZeTi

Join me and other experts to discuss the intersectionality of antisemitism and misogyny and other aspects of antisemitism. 8 August!
While the concept of intersectionality has experienced an uplift in the past few years, it is often overlooked when it comes to antisemitism. By addressing the intersections between antisemitism, misogyny, and anti-LGBTQ+ narratives, we can develop more comprehensive and effective strategies to combat all forms of hate. Therefore, our next CCOA Deep Dive on 8 August, 16:300 - 18:00 CEST, we will discuss "The overlay of antisemitism, misogyny and LGBTQ+-hatred". For this, we are joined by Blyth Crawford (Moonshot) who will give us insights into antisemitism and anti-LGBTQ+ narratives, Limor Simhony Philpott, PhD (Antisemitism Policy Trust), who will give discuss how antisemitism and misogyny intersect, and Klara Ljungberg (EXPO), who will give a short brief of the Swedish landscape and insights into EXPO's work on active clubs.
