CommonSpirit Health's Vision Awards recognize clinical excellence and the incredible work of our colleagues and teams across the nation. We're honored that two of our Mountain Region caregivers were named Overall Winners in the Innovation and Compassion categories. Congratulations to Dr. Ivy Donaldson (second from left) and Dr. Craig "Doc PJ" Perrinjaquet (center) for their honors! Dr. Donaldson started multiple innovative programs that have given much-needed resources to our patients and increased our ability to help those with addiction. She also helped develop a DEI curriculum and overhauled our residency interview process to help decrease bias and increase diversity within our team. Doc PJ embodies the very definition of empathy and humankindness. His unwavering commitment to serving the greater good is evident in his creation of Doctors to the World, a nonprofit organization that provides vital medical supplies and treatment to the most remote areas of the world.
We are focused each day on improving the health of the people we serve. This week we recognized the dedication of team members in our Denver-area market during a visit from Terika Richardson, Senior Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer with CommonSpirit Health (center). From our new patient tower at St. Anthony North Hospital in Westminster to our Flight for Life base at St. Anthony Hospital in Lakewood, Terika shared words of encouragement for our caregivers in advancing our mission of service to our patients, communities and one another.
Congratulations to the 10 CommonSpirit Health Mountain Region hospitals that earned an “A” Hospital Safety Grade from The Leapfrog Group! These “A” grades reflect our caregivers’ relentless commitment to ensuring the safety of the patients in our care. Of course, our work is never done. Our vision of a healthier future for all calls on us to continue to improve our delivery of compassionate, safe care to every patient every time in every care facility across our region. We're pleased to announce that Christopher Johnston, MD, FACEP, will serve as our Greater Denver Market Chief Medical Officer, a role in which he will support our clinical goals, advance clinical excellence, promote adherence to clinical standards, reduce unjustified clinical variation, and ensure regulatory readiness across our Greater Denver Market. Dr. Johnston will also continue to serve in his existing role as Chief Medical Officer at St. Anthony North Hospital. Dr. Johnston brings extensive experience and knowledge to our ministry, helping to bridge the gap between administration and medical providers. We thank him for his two decades of service to our organization and congratulate him on this exciting new endeavor!

In keeping with our commitment to building a healthier future for all and improving access to health care, we're pleased to announce our purchase of land for a future health campus that will serve our rapidly expanding communities in south metro Denver. The 42-acre parcel in the Meridian community at the southwest corner of Peoria Street and E-470 in Douglas County was chosen to ensure that people living in one of the fastest growing regions of the state have access to high-quality, patient-centered care close to home. Construction on the health campus is expected to begin in the third quarter of 2025. While additional details will be released in the coming months, demolition of the existing structure located on the building site will begin later this winter. “With CommonSpirit’s expansive network of high-performing hospitals, clinics and caregivers, we are uniquely positioned to serve the people who live and work in this area,” said Andrew Gaasch, MSHL, CPA, CommonSpirit’s Mountain Region President. “We are committed to transforming how and where health care can happen, and with 12 of our region’s 20 hospitals spanning from Durango to Frisco, from Canon City to Longmont, the south metro campus will allow us to connect communities across the state, serving as an important hub for providing innovative, compassionate care to our neighbors.” Learn more at https://lnkd.in/g7GtDjUK

We're thrilled to welcome Brady Small as our Chief Information Officer for CommonSpirit Health's Mountain Region. With nearly 15 years of strategic technology experience, Brady is well-versed in driving technology strategy and innovation. He has served in numerous executive positions, including Director and Client Accountable Executive for Oracle Health and Director of Solutions Design and Partner Success for Iris Telehealth. Passionate about serving our community, Brady also serves as an advisor for the Customer Experience program within the University of Colorado Leeds School of Business, where he advises on all content, course material, and lessons while mentoring and coaching students. “I'm excited to join a team and organization that delivers excellence in care and prioritizes building better healthcare for not only everyone around us, but for our families and the generations to come," Brady said. "I'm excited for the vision of CommonSpirit and how that drives the day-to-day operations.” Brady, his wife, Jenna, and their four children live in Berthoud, Colorado. Outside of work, he enjoys spending time outdoors with his family and furthering his spiritual growth. Welcome, Brady!
