🌳A bold initiative in the Cerrado region of Brazil aims to protect and restore nature roughly twice the size of Manhattan in order to progress conservation and create new jobs and streams of income. 🎥 Vice President of Conservação Internacional (CI-Brasil) Mauricio Bianco shares how we work to move the needle on large-scale restoration in the region.#ClimateWeekNYC - Conservation International’s Dr. Neil Vora, MD joins the Are We F#rd Podcast exploring how climate change and deforestation are fueling the rise of infectious diseases, the lurking threat of paleo-viruses in melting glaciers, and the very real possibility of fungi turning us into… zombies? Vora shares his thoughts on the role of vaccines, his work with the CDC, and how we can prevent the next global pandemic before it even starts.

- 🌳 Mangroves are critical support systems and vital players in the fight against climate change—but these uncommonly resilient forests are under threat. This is why we work with communities rich in mangroves to protect and preserve these essential forests. 🎥 Jennifer Howard, Conservation International Vice President, Blue Carbon Program, shares why mangroves are so important for global biodiversity and what we can do to protect them.#ClimateWeekNYC
- AI is influencing how we allocate resources and make sustainable decisions for both people and the planet. However, the environmental impact of AI, notably it’s large energy consumption, is part of a much more complex picture. At Conservation International, we are working to ensure that AI is used in ethical, responsible, and inclusive ways—while also considering the broader implications for the environment. Featuring Ali Swanson, Conservation International Director of Technical Initiatives. #ClimateWeekNYC
- 🌱🌍 When we think about nature's role in climate solutions, forest protection is often top of mind—and it’s important. However, sustainable agriculture also holds immense potential to limit climate change. 🎥 Conservation International’s Patricia Zurita and Bronson Griscom share how smarter farming practices could remove billions of tons of CO2 every year while keeping food production intact. By planting trees along field boundaries, farmers can make a measurable impact and generate economic incentives without major changes to their livelihoods or income. Discover how technology is helping communities worldwide monitor the effectiveness of these sustainable efforts.#ClimateWeekNYC

Congratulations to Coast 4C for making it to The Earthshot Prize finals in the Revive our Oceans category. As a seed investor, Conservation International Ventures is incredibly proud of your work on restorative seaweed farming, done in a way that benefits marginalized communities, supports their sustainable commerce, promotes conservation and encourages climate resilience. A few highlights of what makes this company standout: *Coast 4C helps small-scale seaweed farmers in the Philippines sustainably increase production, minimize coral reef damage and marine plastic pollution, and ensure their operation improves ocean health. *They also aid in the regeneration of habitat and fish stocks by incorporating seaweed into community-based integrated Marine Protected Areas (iMPAs) – enabling seaweed aquaculture to deliver significant social and ecological benefits. To date, they have established eight iMPAs co-managed with 10 communities, protecting ~6,000 ha of coastal waters. CI Ventures invested in Coast 4C in the immediate aftermath of Super Typhoon Odette so the company could rebuild its processing and storage warehouses, and create and distribute “input packages” for farmers so they could restart operations. So far, they’ve provided training to over 400 farmers. https://lnkd.in/ePyGHK45 #sustainability #seaweedfarming #plasticpollution Bloomberg Philanthropies
