The Judges Have Deliberated 👀 The 2024 Global Multi-Region Effie Worldwide Awards jury held their final review this week in New York City. The esteemed panel of senior marketing leaders deliberated on the most effective marketing efforts that run across multiple regions worldwide. Among the judges was our very own Global Chief Strategy Officer, Tomas Gonsorcik. Championing Women’s Empowerment with Varsha Kaura and The AIF 🌟 The 2024 American India Foundation Annual Gala took place last Saturday evening in Chicago. With the mission to transform the lives of millions in India through public health, education, livelihood programs, and a focus on female empowerment, AIF is a change-maker. We are proud that Varsha Kaura, Global Client Lead for Mars Petcare - Omnicom, is recognized as a key figure and change-maker in this movement. As one of the three keynote speakers at the gala this year, Varsha shared her personal connection to the cause and emphasized AIF’s impact with a spotlight on this year’s theme: “Women Empowerment.” It is talented and nice leaders like Varsha who embody our shared values of creativity, unity, respect, integrity, and excellence, that help to promote and implement inclusion and belonging both in and out of the workplace. Reshaping DEI in APAC with The Phyllis Project 🙌 Launched globally in 2017, The Phyllis Project is a creative initiative designed to rewrite the script for women in advertising. Named in honor of Phyllis Robinson, the first female copy chief at DDB, The Phyllis Project has already made significant strides in empowering women by providing mentorship, fostering a supportive community, and offering practical training opportunities. Following its expansion to India in 2020, this initiative is already having a lasting impact on the local industry. Roisin Rooney, DDB Worldwide’s Global Chief People Officer and Vanaja Pillai, Head of DEI at DDB Mudra Group and President of 22feet Tribal Worldwide, recently sat down with Campaign India to discuss how gender diversity and representation is critical to the success and sustainability of the industry. Rooney said, “True equity requires broad-based commitment. It’s about fostering environments where everyone feels heard and respected, governed by values like the ‘Freedom from Fear’ and ‘Freedom to Be’—principles integral to DDB’s culture."
