• We’re thrilled to announce that the White Elephant Nantucket has won an IIDA New England Award! In celebration of its 100th birthday, the hotel has undergone a stunning transformation that reflects the island’s rich history and beauty. Reopened in 2023, this 54-key hotel and its 11 cottages showcase custom furnishings and design details inspired by all things Nantucket. The design brings the outside in, with soft neutral tones in the guest rooms evoking the windswept landscape, while vibrant colors in the cottages reflect the island’s summer flowers. The reimagined lobby welcomes visitors with a blend of traditional charm and modern luxury, featuring a striking painting by artist Orit Fuchs behind the deep blue reception desk. Each cottage tells a unique story through bold textiles, curated Nantucket artifacts, and custom furnishings, creating one-of-a-kind settings for lasting memories. Additionally, the property showcases original artwork from an artist-in-residency program, highlighting the hotel’s commitment to creativity and community. This stunning 44-story luxury tower boasts 470 units, including below-market-rate options, and over 27,000 square feet of amenities. With breathtaking views, a vibrant lobby featuring art from Graham Coldwell and Emilio Perez, and a Sky Lounge on Level 37, Alcott redefines urban living. Plus, it connects the West End to North Station with new public spaces and a beautiful one-acre park.   We are pleased to announce that The University of Southern Maine (USM), Portland Commons and McGoldrick Center has received a Society of American Registered Architects (SARA) 2024 Award of Excellence! We accepted the award at the gala, which took place in NYC this past October. The University of Southern Maine’s Portland Commons Residence Hall and McGoldrick Center for Career & Student Success are transformative additions to USM. The two new buildings have replaced a parking lot with 580 new residential beds, a green quad, a dining common, and spaces for career services, student affairs, and the university store. As the largest project in the school’s history, the complex is now the heart of the campus, meeting unique housing and student life needs while welcoming commuting students and the broader community.
