Embark offers the most comprehensive, most accurate dog DNA test on the market. An Embark dog DNA test gives pet owners information about their dog’s breed, ancestry, health, and more — all with just a simple cheek swab. The company uses twice as much genetic information as any other test available and features the world’s only canine DNA relative finder. Pet owners can use Embark to test for over 210 genetic health conditions, so they can make the best choices for their dog. Launched by two brothers, Embark is an official research partner with Cornell University College of Veterinary Medicine and has a mission to end preventable disease in dogs.

We made a huge mistake 🤯 Okay technically maybe it wasn’t our fault, but we are mind blown this morning! Last year, Jillian and I got our first pup, Lando. We were told he was a Shih-poo and would grow to ~11-14 pounds. By his first birthday in July, little guy was pushing 19-20 pounds, but I attributed that to his rigorous weightlifting routine 💪🏼 and didn’t really care. He’s been the best dog, and we love him more than I knew a person could love a dog. But then we completed an Embark Veterinary DNA test (shoutout Ashley Pochick). We were shocked to learn that not only is Lando NOT a Shih-poo… he actually has NO poodle DNA at all 😬 He’s 51% Bichon Frisé, and 49% Shih Tzu. We also received hundreds of health markers and a couple of notables to be aware of for his health and longevity. We easily provided a report to our Veterinarian ahead of our upcoming check-up, and feel at peace knowing that we’ll be able to cater his care to his specific needs long-term (and that we know his actual breed). 🙌🏼🤣
