🧠 Data extracted from every brain we recorded in the last five years captures every moment of HAPPINESS / JOY encountered. 🔻 Key Findings: 1️⃣ Neural Patterns of Joy - Significant alpha wave increases in the frontal regions, indicating a state of calm alertness. - Elevated gamma wave activity in the parietal and temporal lobes during moments of joy, highlighting heightened cognitive processing. 2️⃣ Brain Regions Linked to Joy - The left prefrontal cortex lit up, showing its role in emotional regulation and reward processing. - The amygdala, crucial for emotional reactions, was activated, underscoring its role in experiencing positive emotions. 3️⃣ Temporal Dynamics of Joy - Joy-related brain activity was triggered within 300-500 milliseconds after the joyful stimulus. - The duration of brain activity perfectly mirrored the length of the joyful experience. 4️⃣ Individual Variability - Differences in brain activity intensity and duration directly correlated with individuals' reported levels of happiness. 5️⃣ Connectivity and Coherence - Enhanced interactions between the frontal and parietal regions were observed during joy. - A highly coordinated neural network, linking both cortical and subcortical regions, worked in harmony during these moments. The present work presents a neuroanatomical topography of happiness in the brain and shows how cognition and emotions interact with each other. We plan to investigate whether other positive emotions will have neural correlates of happiness, and if so, develop appropriate interventions to enhance happiness in order to improve mental health and emotional well-being. … This wasn't a controlled trial; rather, it was a spontaneous exploration to see how a happy brain looks in real life. 🏅 It's a very special day for everyone watching the Paralympic Games! We could not be more proud or inspired by torchbearers Nathalie Labrégère & her twin brother Denis, and Pierre Landerretche who overcame immense physical challenges to fulfill their dreams, demonstrating the transformative potential of neurotechnology. These pioneers operated ORTHOPUS exoskeletons in Permobil smart wheelchairs using EMOTIV’s EPOC X EEG headsets, paired with Multimodal Cognitive AI Agents™ developed by Inclusive Brains as part of the revolutionary Prometheus BCI Project. Nathalie also used facial expressions as a BCI command, and Denis, who has autism, wore EMOTIV MN8 EEG earbuds to monitor his stress levels among the crowds. "Their achievements are a powerful reminder of how innovation and collaboration can break down barriers and improve lives," says Kim O., EMOTIV Chief Operating Officer. In a commitment to fostering inclusivity, EMOTIV, and its partners will donate exoskeleton arms and EEG headsets to nonprofits supporting individuals with paralysis. The Prometheus BCI, a mental command algorithm, will be made open-source, enabling broader access to this transformative technology.
