In 1951, EMWD annexed to The Metropolitan Water District of Southern California. The population within the current 601-square-mile service area is nearly 1 million.

Last week, our team was recognized with the 2024 Aaron Norris Spirit of PR Award, one of the highest honors for public outreach at the PRSA Inland Empire Chapter Polaris Awards. Our Public and Governmental Affairs team was recognized for exceptional performance and innovation in the field of public relations and communications. In addition, our team brought home a Capella Award of Distinction in a Campaign of Environmental Sustainability Communications for our Strategic Priorities Progress Report. #ICYMI here's a look at what we were up to for the month of October: 🙌 We were honored to host Director Karla Nemeth from the California Department of Water Resources for a roundtable discussion on the importance of water supply planning in California and the Delta Conveyance Project. 🎓 We recognized this year's cohort of interns who have worked diligently in various capacities to get a firsthand look at how EMWD serves the community. 💧 EMWD Board Director Jeff Armstrong, in partnership with the San Diego County Water Authority, joined Metropolitan Water District of Southern California for their tour of the State Water Project system. 🔋 We had the honor of being recognized for the fourth consecutive year with the Utility of the Future, Today award from the Water Environment Federation for our innovative and sustainable approach to energy management. 💼 We hosted stakeholders from throughout the greater Riverside County area for our annual Water Leaders Academy. 📝 EMWD staff and a special guest, our mascot Patrick, attended the Legislative Summit hosted by the Temecula Valley Chamber of Commerce. 🤝 EMWD and the City of Perris have finalized the consolidation of the City’s water and sewer systems, which will deliver greater continuity and benefits to residents. Let's see what November has in store for us! 🍂

We had a packed house yesterday for our annual Business Connection Luncheon. The purpose of this event is to teach vendors, suppliers and firms how to do business with EMWD.
