Chief Intelligence Officer Jack Stubbs and the #Graphika intelligence team reviewed evidence provided by CNN and confirmed the actions are likely part of a broader hoax campaign. “Graphika’s findings suggest the fake bomb threats on Election Day in the US are just one part of a much bigger picture,” Stubbs told CNN. “This activity appears to be part of a years long campaign of hoax bomb threats sent to schools, universities, and even airports in multiple countries around the world.” To read the full article, see below!
Election Disinformation: Graphika Insights on Bomb Threat Hoaxes Featured by CNN graphika.com - On Election Day, a must-read from Graphika’s Chief Intelligence Officer Jack Stubbs on the true nature of Russia-linked influence operations targeting the election. “They are trolling us... Be watchful. Be wary. But don’t get taken in.”

As in previous U.S. election cycles, Russia-linked influence operations have attempted to spread false and inflammatory claims online using deceptive practices. Something else that remains the same: They want our attention and they are trolling us. In recent weeks, days, and hours, we’ve seen a steady drumbeat of content seeded by a Russia-linked operation variously known as Operation Overload and Matryoshka. That content has impersonated the FBI, the CIA, and a bunch of media outlets. And a number of the Operation Overload posts have contained a QR code embedded with a cryptic little puzzle piece. What happens when you put all those puzzle pieces together...? Well, my colleagues at Graphika have the answer below. Russian IO has a history of this kind of puerile and attention-seeking behaviour. The point is, they want our attention. They want to waste our time. And they want our outrage. As Olga Belogolova, Lee Foster, Thomas Rid, and Gavin Wilde explained so well back in May, it’s how they can claim “impact” - both with the U.S. public and their bosses https://lnkd.in/eTCRK6B5Be watchful. Be wary. But don’t get taken in. - Please join us for a webinar tomorrow, October 24 at 12 pm ET! Graphika Chief Intelligence Officer Jack Stubbs will discuss our recent report The #Americans, which revealed how Chinese state-linked covert online influence operation Spamouflage has become more aggressive in its efforts to infiltrate and sway U.S. political conversations ahead of the 2024 election. - A new report from the Washington Post featuring insights from Graphika details intensifying efforts by China to influence the 2024 U.S. election. Graphika's Chief Intelligence Officer Jack Stubbs was interviewed about Chinese state-linked influence operation Spamouflage amid Graphika's recent groundbreaking report The #Americans. “They’re throwing a lot of spaghetti at the wall and occasionally a piece of it sticks,” Stubbs told the Washington Post team. “But the odd piece of spaghetti sticking to the wall doesn’t feel like a recipe for long-term success or impact.” To read the full story, see below!
