This year’s NewYork-Presbyterian Dalio Center for Health Justice Conference, titled "Environmental Justice: Advancing Health in Our Climate Crisis," convened leaders in public health, government, and beyond to address the urgent health impacts of climate change on marginalized communities. Henry Street President & CEO David Garza, a member of the Dalio Center's external advisory board, moderated a thought-provoking panel featuring Kizzy Charles-Guzman, MS, CEO of the Center for Environmental Health; Chef Gregory Silverman, MSc, CEO of West Side Campaign Against Hunger; and Gernot Wagner, PhD, a climate economist at Columbia Business School. The speakers shared their expertise on the intersection of environmental justice and health and discussed actionable strategies for collaborative change. Henry Street Settlement values its deep partnership with NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital and remains committed to our shared responsibility to confront these critical issues and create a healthier, more just future.#ClimateJustice #CollaborativeChange #PublicHealth #NYC -

On October 10, 2024, her years of self-care through song led her to the spotlight, where she claimed victory in NYC Department for the Aging's second annual Talent is Timeless competition! Read more about Rosemarie's journey to the competition finals, and how her powerful voice inspires us all to believe in our own limitless potential at any age: https://lnkd.in/eUi9gnJK #HenryStreetHappenings #TalentIsTimeless #CombatAgeism -

As the November 5 election approaches, Gothamist/WNYC Radio journalist Jessica Gould visited Boys & Girls Republic on the Lower East Side to meet young leaders in its nearly century-old civics program. Here, kids—known as "citizens"—help make the rules and are preparing for their own elections to roles like councilmember, judge, and mayor. Henry Street has led the unique youth program since the 1990s. Read and listen to the full piece here: https://lnkd.in/d6mBRPCg #Civics #Election #Youth #NYC -

CLC site visit day! This week our 2024 Community Leadership Course class spent a lovely fall afternoon on the Lower East Side, hosted by our longtime partner Henry Street Settlement. We spoke with Jeremy Reiss, Executive VP of Partnerships & Innovation and Erica Chung, Director of Partnerships and Public Policy about the organizations storied history in the community and their vast array of responsive and innovative social services, arts, and health care programs. The group visited Henry Street's Neighborhood Resource Center, early child and youth programs, a school-based mental health clinic, an ESOL program, and transitional housing. It was a celebration of the community and Henry Street's profound impact there since it's founding by Lillian Wald in 1893. Thank you for the warm welcome and sharing your insights with the group! #Community #CBO #CommunityOrganization #NYC #HenryStreetSettlement #NeighborhoodCenter
