Community is 🔑. Here, in the rural community of Baradères, women in the Village Savings & Loans Association (VSLA) established by our team gather for the annual "share out." At the end of every annual cycle, all of the loans made by the VSLA are paid back and the total money is shared out among members in proportion to their savings. This share-out includes all of the profits of the group from interest income and fines. Any member who wants to can then plough this money immediately back into the group, so that they start a new cycle with a large balance, which makes them quickly eligible for a large loan. #Haiti #finance #VSLA

Today is #WorldDiabetesDay, a reminder of our commitment to increasing awareness about diabetes and its prevention and working to ensure that those diagnosed with #diabetes have access to high-quality care that isn't cost-prohibitive. Each year, our team hosts a walk across the city of Les Cayes, #Haiti, ending at our Infirmary St. Etienne, where participants are encouraged to receive free screenings and educational resources about the disease. Did you know Hope for Haiti has established partnerships with 64 gift-in-kind partners throughout Haiti, providing healthcare to over 1 million patients annually? Thanks to organizations like cmmb, MAP International, Americares, and our in-country healthcare partners, we're able to get vital #medication into the hands of those who need it in #Haiti.
