Attention Health and Beauty Industry: Major Changes Coming to Washington State! As of January 1, 2025, Washington State’s new Toxic-Free Cosmetics Act (TFCA) restricts 9 chemicals and chemical classes from cosmetic products made, distributed, or sold in-state. “Cosmetics” includes but is not limited to makeup, soaps, and shampoos. All businesses that manufacture, distribute, sell, or use cosmetic products within Washington, from national retail chains to individually owned salons offering cosmetology services, must comply with the TFCA. On December 12, 2024, U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service proposed listing the monarch butterfly as federally threatened under the Endangered Species Act (ESA). This could represent a pivotal moment in conservation efforts, as the monarch butterfly would be one of the most widely ranging species listed under the ESA. The proposed listing may impact projects across seven California coastal counties: Ventura, Santa Barbara, San Luis Obispo, Monterey, Santa Cruz, Alameda, and Marin. Key actions: 🔎 Prevent Delays: Engage early in the project planning phase with a proactive strategy to help save time and reduce costs. Determine where monarch butterflies are located and how the project may impact their habitats. 🔎 Navigate Regulations: Ensure ESA compliance through proper regulatory review. 🔎 Voice Your Input: Submit comments on the proposal by March 12, 2025 (https://lnkd.in/eq2y4M6).
