KSBW is the California Central Coast’s broadcast/digital media leader, providing news, weather, sports, community service and entertainment on multiple platforms including KSBW 8 NBC, Central Coast ABC, Estrella TV Costa Central, KSBW.com, and the KSBW mobile app. Founded in 1953, KSBW is committed to its mission to serve the Salinas-Monterey-Santa Cruz region with quality local content. In addition to over 28 hours of KSBW Action News 8 coverage each week, original offerings include local news magazine specials focused on issues social equity, health, and the environment. The station has been honored with numerous prestigious broadcasting honors including regional RTDNA Edward R. Murrow Awards for “Best Newscast” and regional Emmy’s, and Associated Press Awards for “Breaking News Coverage.” KSBW is owned by Hearst Television, a wholly owned subsidiary of Hearst, a leading media company whose global holdings include 33 television stations. KSBW had the privilege of sponsoring this week’s 25th Annual United Way Monterey County Community Breakfast, where Action News 8 anchor Dan Green served as the Emcee for the 25th time! 🎤 It was an inspiring morning learning about the positive impact the United Way is making right here on the Central Coast. We are moved by the incredible work being done to support those in need in our own backyard. This year, KSBW 8 NBC • Central Coast ABC • Estrella TV had the honor of partnering with United Way Monterey County for their Stuff the Bus campaign. In 2024, they saw a 200% increase in funds raised and a 132% increase in the number of donors, up from 2023. 🎉This weekend, we kicked off Hispanic Heritage Month at El Grito in Salinas! It was fantastic to see the community come together to celebrate Mexico's Independence Day. The pride in culture and tradition radiated through all the vibrant festivities and live performances throughout the day. Estrella TV Costa Central was there, meeting our viewers and giving them a chance to spin our prize wheel! Throughout the month, KSBW will share stories that celebrate Hispanic Heritage right here on the Central Coast. At KSBW 8 NBC • Central Coast ABC • Estrella TV , we believe in giving back to the communities where we live and work. As part of the company-wide initiative, Hearst Gives Back, our dedicated team took part in a volunteer day at Rancho Cielo in Monterey County, California. Our mission? To support those in need in our community. We spent the day packing veggie boxes with locally grown produce, which will go directly to families and individuals who need them most. The effort is just some of the work being done by Rancho Cielo which helps young people facing challenges through education and vocational training. Giving back is a priority for Hearst Television, and we are proud to contribute to making a difference. Celebrating 10 years at KSBW 8 NBC • Central Coast ABC • Estrella TV 🎉 Ten years ago, I walked into the KSBW newsroom and started my career. I was a part-time, weekend morning producer. It was not the job you dream about, but it was an opportunity to live and work in the community that I love. That job, led me to this one, serving as the Sports Anchor for over eight years and making a lifetime of memories and friends along the way.
