- L.A. Care Health Plan applauds voters for their support in passing Proposition 35, a pivotal measure that secures health care access for nearly 15 million residents by providing essential funding for the Medi-Cal program.🗳️⚕️ L.A. Care is proud to have led the charge in advocating for increased reimbursement rates to support our safety net providers. In June 2022, our CEO, John Baackes, founded the L.A. County Safety Net Coalition—a diverse alliance of health plans, hospitals, clinics, and physicians—that later evolved into the California Safety Net Coalition. This powerful collective played a crucial role in shaping the advocacy that paved the way for Prop 35. With Prop 35, we are one step closer to advancing health equity and ensuring every Californian receives the care they deserve. http://spr.ly/6042s82Gk #LACare #Prop35 #MediCal
- This #VeteransDay, we take a moment to recognize and thank the brave men and women who have served in Americas Armed Forces. In recognition of Veterans Day, we had the privilege of honoring our incredible L.A. Care staff members who served in the U.S. Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine Corps, and Coast Guard. 🎖️ We celebrated our L.A. Care staff veterans with a special lunch, where we heard incredible stories of service, sacrifice, and dedication. It was a day filled with memories, laughter, and a chance to honor their contributions both in and out of uniform. A special shout-out to Mike Devine, Director of Special Investigations, who served an impressive 30 years in the U.S. Navy! Thank you for your dedication! ⚓ We also heard from Bobby Daily, Authorization Tech II in Utilization Management, who served for eight years in the Air Force. Bobby shared a powerful tribute to fellow veterans who made the ultimate sacrifice, reminding us of the true cost of freedom. Yesenia Monique Marquez, Care Management Community Health Worker II shared: "Serving my country has provided me with opportunities for adventure, education, and financial stability. It has also instilled leadership values that I now carry with me in my role at L.A. Care, where we are committed to bettering ourselves and our community, much like the 'Whole Airman concept' in the Air Force." We are so proud of our veteran colleagues and grateful for their service! Thank you for all that you do—both for our country and for our L.A. Care family.#VeteransDay #ThankYouForYourService #Veterans #HonoringOurHeroes
- As discussions continue around a second Trump term, major changes in health policy could be on the horizon. L.A. Care’s CEO, John Baackes, recently spoke with Los Angeles Times, highlighting the challenges California faces. Baackes says, “California has relied on its own dollars to expand its Medicaid program, known as Medi-Cal, to cover people regardless of their immigration status.” However, Baackes notes that with budget deficits, there is a limit to what California can do. 🏛️🏥 Read more below: http://spr.ly/6044SIJZI #LACare #MediCal #Medicaid
