- Trying to figure out a company *actually* cares about Diversity & Inclusion 🏳️🌈? Ask one of these 20 questions during the interview process: 1. How does the company define diversity and inclusion, and what steps do you take to foster a diverse and inclusive environment? 2. What percentage of women are currently employed at the company, and how does this compare to industry standards? 3. Can you provide specific examples of initiatives or programs the company has implemented to promote diversity and inclusion? 4. How does your team address unconscious bias during the hiring and promotion processes? Are there bands, rubrics, etc? 5. Are there any employee resource groups or affinity networks focused on supporting underrepresented groups, including women in tech? 6. How do you ensure that women are given equal opportunities for career growth and advancement within the organization? 7. What kind of mentorship or sponsorship programs are available for women in the company? 8. Has the company conducted any diversity and inclusion training or workshops for employees? If so, what were the outcomes? 9. How do you handle incidents of discrimination or harassment? Can you share any specific examples and how they were addressed? 10. What measures are in place to ensure equal pay and benefits for men and women in similar roles? 11. How does the company support work-life balance for women, particularly those with caregiving responsibilities? 12. Are there flexible work arrangements or remote work options available to accommodate the needs of women? 13. What steps does the company take to ensure that women's voices are heard and valued in decision-making processes? 14. How does the company promote a culture of respect and inclusivity among employees? 15. What efforts are made to attract and retain diverse talent in the tech industry? 16. Does the company have any partnerships or collaborations with organizations focused on diversity and inclusion in tech? 17. How do you measure progress and success in creating a diverse and inclusive work environment? 18. How does the company address intersectionality and the unique challenges faced by women from different backgrounds? 19. Can you provide examples of women who have had successful careers and growth within the company? 20. What ongoing efforts are being made to improve diversity and inclusion within the company, and what are the long-term goals?

Back in January, we kicked off a little experiment: a single-channel slack community space for People & Talent Leaders to talk about DEI, AI, hiring shifts, and to help us answer common candidate questions for the Leopard.FYI candidate community 💬 We just passed 200 members (!!) and are slowly expanding outside of San Francisco. If you lead People or Talent in the US or Canada and would like to join, drop me a DM and I’ll get you added! 💌 - Leopard.FYI reposted this

I don’t usually write long LinkedIn posts, but one of my goals for 2025 is to celebrate my wins more. I rang in 2024 in the ER. I was 12 weeks pregnant and experiencing heavy bleeding. Having suffered a pregnancy loss just months before, I was terrified it was happening again. Prioritizing my health and my baby’s well-being, I made the difficult decision to leave my full-time job. While I worried about how an extended career break might impact my future opportunities, my duty to my growing family came first. Fast forward to early 2025: my son and I are doing well, and I’m ready to return to work. The job market has changed significantly since I last interviewed, and I felt rusty and uncertain about my prospects. I worried no company would want to take a chance on a new mom. I couldn’t have navigated this job search without Leopard.FYI. While my new role didn’t come directly from Leopard, the support and resources from Lexi Lewtan and the team were invaluable—especially the LinkedIn DM template that ultimately led to my offer! I highly recommend that any women or non-binary engineers explore working with them. With that, I’m excited to share that I’ve joined Ashby as a Product Engineer! The interview process was engaging and the team was incredibly kind. What stood out most—and ultimately led me to accept the offer—was Ashby’s thoughtful approach: to their product, to building a company, and to reimagining what work should look like. I’m sharing my journey in hopes that any woman who has faced or is facing similar challenges knows that they are not alone. There is light at the end of the tunnel 🌥️ - Leopard.FYI #jobsearchtips: Balancing Offers With Different Timelines ⚖️ A Leopard member recently received an offer from a company she liked—and they wanted a signed response before she left for a vacation. Meanwhile, another opportunity she was excited about was still two weeks out from a final decision. She was torn: should she accept what she had or hold out for the possibly better fit? Ultimately, she negotiated some time to decide and weighed the tradeoffs ⚖️.: certainty 🦄 vs. potential 💭 . In the end, she accepted the offer in hand, feeling confident it met most of her needs. Takeaway: You don’t need all the details about the second offer to make a good decision ⚖️ . If the first offer feels solid ✅ & aligns with what you want, it’s okay to accept it 👍 —even if another opportunity is still in the mix.
- Leopard member tip: email your performance reviews 📃 to yourself so you can reference them in your job search in the future💡 💡 💡 💡 💡

Access this content and more in the LinkedIn app - Leopard.FYI #jobsearchtips : When the Comp Range Shifts Mid-Process 💸 Recently, a Leopard member was in interviews for a role that felt like a step down in scope from her previous position. Initially, the recruiter shared a compensation range that seemed fair. But by the time she reached the offer stage, the high end of the range had disappeared—what was once the “max” had quietly become the “midpoint.” On top of that, equity was no longer included, despite earlier signals that it would be. 🤨 Our Tips: - Always double-check salary and equity details 🔎 as you move into later stages—they can change, especially if you get down-leveled. - If the offer comes in lower than expected, don't be hard on yourself -- it’s normal to feel disappointed 😭. Try to assess the full picture: benefits, equity, stability, growth potential, and how well the role aligns with your goals. - Remember: a lower offer from a strong company can often lead to more long-term upside 🚀 than a higher offer from a place that feels like a mismatch 🚩 .

#jobsearchtips from the #leopardwins channel 💜 🏆 3/26/25 (anon) Know what you want and your timeline. I knew I wanted to work at a smaller, profitable company in an IC role (which implied a pay cut) with a specific technology stack. I set a timeline of 6-12 months to find a new job. Set milestones. For example, I decided that if I didn’t have an offer from a company I really wanted by a certain month, I would start loosening my requirements and applying to a broader range of opportunities. Apply a lot! Even if a company doesn’t check every box on your list (or vice versa), apply anyway—for practice and because the company might surprise you. Treat every interview as an opportunity to learn something new. Use AI for your resume, interviews, and follow-up emails—but personalize it! When using AI for behavioral questions, make sure to internalize and adapt the answers to sound like you. I noticed that when I started using AI-generated responses without practicing enough, recruiters were quick to reject me. In my experience, they value authenticity. Don’t stop interviewing until you sign an offer. Don’t take rejections personally. The job market is tough, companies are selective, and sometimes interviewers just have bad days. Find a study buddy. I connected with someone through Leopard who was at a similar stage in their job search and had the same availability as me. This was a game-changer when I felt stuck or unproductive—my buddy pushed me forward and remained super supportive, even after she got an offer while I was still in the process. If you’re burned out, take a step back and recharge. You won’t perform at your best if you don’t take care of yourself. Always network. Ideally, keep networking even when you’re not job-hunting—it helps maintain connections and can lead to referrals, recommendations, and new opportunities down the road. - Leopard.FYI reposted this
