About us

Madison Gas and Electric (MGE) is a regulated natural gas and electric utility headquartered in Madison, Wis, the state capital and home to the University of Wisconsin-Madison. MGE is the primary asset of MGE Energy (Nasdaq: MGEE), an investor-owned public utility holding company. MGE’s roots in the community date back to 1855. Madison Gas and Electric generates and distributes electricity to 146,000 customers in Dane County, and purchases and distributes natural gas to 152,000 customers in seven south-central and western Wisconsin counties. As your community energy company, we are committed to this area and its people.
