At Medica, we are committed to earning the trust of those we serve through our unwavering commitment to high quality, affordable health care. We are a nonprofit health plan that serves communities in Minnesota, Arizona, Iowa, Kansas, Missouri, Nebraska, North Dakota, Oklahoma, South Dakota, Wisconsin and Wyoming. As a company, we empower communities by listening to their voices, learning about community needs, and devoting time and resources to help. Medica partners with the communities it serves in many ways, including the Medica Foundation, a nonprofit, charitable grant-making foundation. The Medica Foundation largely funds community-based programs and initiatives that provide sustainable, measurable improvements in the availability, access, equity and quality of health care. In 2021, we formed a joint venture with SSM Health, and through that invested in Dean Health Plan. Medica and Dean Health Plan, both mission-driven health plans, have significant similarities in our histories, operations, cultures, and deep community commitment. Our new relationship is driven by technology, a mission driven vision, and innovation. Recently several of our leaders including Adam Hjerpe, Krista Dusil and Andrew Marshall had the honor and privilege of riding along with Hennepin Healthcare EMS and their Chief Martin Sheerer for a few days all across the county. 🚑 It was an incredible experience to learn about the EMS team, their mission and daily work-- similar to our mission, they focus on how they can help and serve their community. 🚑 We met amazing people who are dedicated to serve in some tough situations. These men and women talked about the work they do beyond responding to 911 calls from large event support to education to connection with the larger health care community. 🚑 It was truly impactful to see the care these EMS employees give in these moments that matter - when they encounter someone who has a medical emergency they treat each individual with calm, compassion and professionalism. 🚑 It's truly an honor to serve these amazing men and women of Hennepin Healthcare as our health insurance members.
⭐ ⭐ Still have that Town Hall feeling from last week ⭐ ⭐ 🎙️ Recently we hosted our Q4 Town Hall at our Madison hub--hundreds of our employees showed up, engaged and collaborated together as one team. 🎙️ We heard great messages from our leaders and had a fun 🧊 breaker panel with some of our new C-Suite team. 🎙️ We crafted and made cards for seniors in assisted living. 🎙️ And held some wellness workshops including one focused on gratitude 😊 🎙️ It was a great time being together!

In honor of Veteran's Day-- we wanted to share this amazing experience that some members of our Medica and Dean Health Plan, Inc. Salutes team took part in recently-- the Badger Honor Flight ✈️ 🇺🇸 This was a milestone mission--flying the 5,000th veteran to Washington DC! 🇺🇸 Our Salutes ERG (Employee Resource Group) showed up early to help pack 200 breakfast bags for the 87 veterans, their guardians and volunteer crew. 🇺🇸 Our Dean Health Plan, Inc. employees gifted hand-written notes to each veteran boarding the Honor Flight and were able to shake hands and talk with the group before send-off. 🇺🇸 This was the last ✈️ of 2024 and it was an incredible experience--thank you to all who have served!

I was honored to be invited by North Dakota Governor Doug Burgum and First Lady Kathryn Burgum to their 8th and final Recovery Reinvented event last week. The work inspired by First Lady Kathryn Burgum’s own journey has positively impacted so many across the country. In fact, the call I got from her and Jonathan Holth has been a big catalyst in driving me to share more about my path. So proud of Medica for sponsoring the event including a keynote address from William C. Moyers of Hazelden Betty Ford Foundation. Together we’re all doing tremendous work to break the stigma surrounding addiction!

Team Medica is officially in the Halloween spirit 👻 Last weekend several our Employee Resource Groups both in MN and WI participated in multiple community Trunk or Treat events! We had a blast handing out candy 🍭 and connecting with our community partners! Have a great and safe Halloween!

From Duluth to South Dakota and Missouri--our teams are putting in the 👟 steps for our members this open enrollment season! ➡️ Last week-- we had a great time at the Duluth Senior "Go" Show--this is an annual event we never miss--as the top sponsor, we had multiple tables and helped folks navigate the best plans for their healthcare and prescription needs + treated them to some fresh ☕ and 🍩 ➡️ Back in Watertown, South Dakota assisting members looking for quality and affordable Medicare plans. ➡️ Our Dr. Nicholas Scheibel represented Medica at the St. Louis University health fair and Telemundo Spanish Health Fair.
