About us

The mission of the North American Hardware and Paint Association (NHPA) is to help independently operated hardware stores, home centers, lumberyards and paint and decorating outlets throughout North America become better and more profitable merchants. Our website contains information on the home improvement industry, exclusive industry and retailer videos of exciting events going on in the industry, as well as training programs designed for home improvement retailers. In addition to providing training support for home improvement retailers, NHPA is the publisher of Paint & Decorating Retailer magazine, the independent paint and decorating retail industry’s leading publication, and Hardware Retailing magazine, the industry's most trusted source for retail, industry and product information. Hardware Retailing magazine is circulated to 40,000 of industry decision-makers, retailers, distributors, manufacturers and wholesalers. NHPA also serves as a full-functioning communications agency with a broad product offering that can be used to suit your company's needs. NHPA Publishing and Communications delivers custom publications, catalogs, training capabilities and video production to manufacturers, distributors and retailers looking for creative and effective ways to market their businesses.

During Visit 2, the 2024 class of the NHPA Retail Management Certification Program heard from industry and subject matter experts on a variety of topics, including store design, loss prevention, pricing and inventory management. The students also enjoyed networking and a brain break at Top Golf during the visit. We can’t wait to welcome the students back in November for their third and final visit and presentation of their business improvement projects.
