#ClimateWeek2024 takeover continues! With a portfolio of approximately 1,500 centralized contracts valued over $34 billion, OGS is uniquely situated to leverage the State's collective buying power to pursue sustainable purchasing and advance our climate goals. Did you know? As a co-chair of the GreenNY Council, OGS helps develop the state’s sustainable purchasing specifications. And now, when a bid goes out, our Procurement team uses these GreenNY specifications to ensure products on contract are environmentally friendly, like our bid for Recycled Copy Paper that must be 100% Post-Consumer Recycled Content (PCRC) fiber. - What’s happening here? #DYK: One of the many responsibilities within OGS is to provide professional care and conservation for the paintings and sculptures in the Empire State Plaza Art Collection. The art at the Plaza has power to inspire and offers meaningful ways for people to connect with the world. OGS is proud to care for this collection on behalf of New York State. So, the next time you’re at the Plaza and see people on lifts and ladders, like here at Richard Anuszkiewicz’s Grand Spectra, be sure to stop and observe as the art is being professionally cleaned. About the artist and artwork: 🎨 Richard Anuszkiewicz was an influential artist in the history of Optical Art whose work studies the effects of color to create perceptual illusions. 🖼️ From 1968, Grand Spectra is composed of four panels consisting of repetitive and colorful square units filled with smaller square units decreasing in size. Vibrant red squares with green and blue outlines draw one’s eye to the work’s perimeter while yellow squares redirect focus toward the center of the work.
