Last week, the world lost a true pioneer. Long before "sustainability" became a buzzword, President Jimmy Carter saw the potential of renewable energy to shape a better future. In 1979, he resolved to decrease America’s energy use and dependence on fossil fuels. He even installed solar panels on the roof of the White House when the idea of harnessing the sun's power for energy seemed impractical and ridiculous. However, President Carter believed in the importance of making big, decisive moves for the good of the planet and future generations. His commitment was met with skepticism, political resistance, and the era's technological limitations. But he pursued it because he understood that the challenges of building a clean energy future are worth confronting, no matter how difficult. As President Kennedy said before, we choose to do these things not because they are easy but because they are hard. Today, as renewable energy becomes more accessible through not-for-profit community energy providers like Orange County Power Authority, I see President Carter’s legacy in action. His leadership reminds us that true progress requires dedication, resolve, and the courage to take bold steps. As we continue toward a renewable energy future, may we honor his example by embracing courageous actions that make a lasting impact—not because they are easy but because they are necessary.#RenewableEnergy #Sustainability #ClimateAction #Leadership - OCPA’s 2023 Power Content Label is here. While work is still to be done and challenges ahead, this exciting progress deserves recognition. California continues to lead the transition to a renewable energy future. While systemic change like this is hard and complicated, the results reshape our world in ways we can’t begin to imagine today. This approval by the EPA shows that bold, forward-thinking policies can drive real change. As other states look to California as a model, the shift to cleaner technologies will create new opportunities across industries, including clean energy. The road to 2035 is just the beginning. I’m excited to be at the heart of progress and to advocate for solutions that can transform our society.https://lnkd.in/guniDgdg #renewableenergy #communitypower #orangecountypowerauthority
