This #TBT we’re reflecting on our Hyatt House project in Evanston, IL. Our design-build team overcame numerous challenges, including stringent PUD ordinance requirements and a small site with zero lot lines. The result? An 8-story, 114-unit extended stay hotel that not only met Hyatt's brand standards but also achieved LEED Silver status. Today we’re throwing it back to one of our landmark projects - the transformation of the former Holiday Inn Select Hotel into the magnificent Chicago Marriott Naperville. This 424-guest room, 275,000 sq. ft. renovation was a true testament to our design-build expertise. Completed in just 14 months, this project won the Marriott International’s Hotel Opening of the Year 2012 and NAIOP Chicago’s Innovative Deal of the Year 2012. Our efforts also helped us secure NAIOP Chicago’s General Contractor of the Year 2012. We delivered a LEED Silver certified project, adding over $1 million in savings reinvested for further improvements. With nearly 20 years of experience at Peak, Jim Michael has worn many hats—starting as a Project Engineer and working his way up to Project Executive. Jim’s hands-on leadership and problem-solving skills have been crucial in overseeing large-scale projects, including the Hyatt House Hotel in Evanston, one of our most challenging zero lot line projects. Jim's passion for construction began at a young age, inspired by his father working in the same field, and he’s been dedicated to the industry ever since. What does Jim enjoys most about working at Peak? Our family-oriented culture where everyone knows each other, and the sense of ownership and pride that runs through the team.
