- We’re proud to announce that our Réseau Express Métropolitain (REM) project, designed in collaboration with Lemay and Bisson Fortin, has won an Architecture MasterPrize (AMP) in Transportation. As Montréal’s largest transit project since 1966, the REM is transforming the city’s future through sustainable, connected transit. The architectural and landscape design of each station follows an urban integration charter, featuring unifying design elements for a consistent signature. The use of wood, along with horizontal and vertical lines, reflects the trains’ forward motion while facilitating wayfinding, enhancing security, and integrating into a variety of neighborhoods and urban settings. The stations are starting points for urban development—incubators of possibilities that stand to transform urban life. Congratulations to our transit team, client, and partners!

Swipe to explore 𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘉𝘪𝘨 𝘐𝘥𝘦𝘢: Nine new community centre designs by our Toronto, Ottawa, and Vancouver studios, each as unique as the communities they’re built to serve. This document is both inspiration and a challenge—to build public architecture that is as meaningful as it is beautiful: https://lnkd.in/evcFyNVNEach design is driven by a singular big idea that brings clarity to the experience, supports the project goals, and creates memorable spaces. - A boutique corporate tower designed by our São Paulo studio is competing for the Future Project, Office award at this year’s World Architecture Festival in Singapore. The team will present their innovative design for Bio Jardins, developed for B11 Inteligência Imobiliária. Located on Av. Rebouças, one of São Paulo’s most prominent avenues, the tower aims to promote synergy between people, the workplace, and the urban environment. With its distinctive wood cladding, lush landscaping, and expansive floor-to-ceiling windows, the design invites ample natural light in and offers views of the city’s lively neighborhoods—setting it apart from conventional corporate buildings. The thoughtful integration of biophilic design enhances connections with nature, creating a healthier, more inviting atmosphere that stimulates occupants’ well-being, creativity, and productivity. Ground-floor commercial spaces invite the community in, linking the tower to the street and encouraging more foot traffic.
- In the latest installment of Technically Speaking, Gayle Meeks, a technical director at our Toronto and Ottawa studios, shares her insights on reimagining the ceiling access hatch for York University’s innovative new School of Continuing Studies. This striking architectural centerpiece marks the institute’s first dedicated home for post-secondary learning, defining the south edge of campus with its iconic twisting form and welcoming pedestrian plaza. Inside, flexible classrooms and collaborative spaces foster community and pride within York’s professional education and English language programs. The building’s unique geometric design enhances efficiency while minimizing costs, reflecting York’s commitment to sustainability, community, and academic excellence.#technicallyspeaking #technicaldesign
- Our London studio at 150 Holborn has been shortlisted for two prestigious World Architecture Festival awards: The Completed Building, Office, and the Special Prize for Sustainability. Project lead Christopher Christophi will present our innovative design to the judges in Singapore later this year, sharing the story of how our studio came to be. 150 Holborn serves as a 'living lab’ focused on the principles of cohabitation and social connectivity. Set across eight floors, this central London hub is home to Sidara's growing network of firms and consultancy services. Since moving in just over a year ago, it has become an inspiring workplace for our team and a dynamic venue for countless events, industry talks, and conferences.

- Last month, our #London studio and Portland Design hosted the Found Futures 1+1 Programme, an exciting initiative created to immerse aspiring design students in the world of architecture through firsthand work experience. The programme aims to inspire future architects and designers by connecting them with industry professionals and fellow students already on this career path. Highlights include a model-making workshop led by an architect, where students collaborate to bring a design concept to life. Following the workshop, participants visit a professional architecture studio to experience the workplace up close. Those who demonstrate genuine interest and skill are offered a one-week placement in a design studio, allowing them to deepen their knowledge, enhance their communication skills, expand their networks, and strengthen their applications for further education and training. Huge thanks to Brentside High School, Found-Futures.org, and Studio Tashima—we loved teaming up for this impactful programme!

The intersection of architecture and urban design can be seen in our scheme for #VIA, a mixed-use project in the center of Oslo, Norway. As it occupies an entire city block, we and our clients saw the opportunity to improve connectivity in a way that would also make the property more desirable for retail and office tenants. Rather than fill the whole site, as the previous building here did, we opened passages in the middle of the block, allowing people to take shortcuts on their way somewhere else or hangout in a new courtyard. The building heights and volumes match the context while the facade detailing offers something new for the delight of visitors. In this installment of #TheFold, we explain how we designed this urban space as a connector and a destination. Learn more about the project on Instagram (@perkinswill) and our website: https://lnkd.in/ezGb5F_h𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗶𝘀 '𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗙𝗼𝗹𝗱’?: A periodical social media series documenting the processes behind our award-winning designs. Each post presents a focused look at the steps our teams take when thinking through design problems on behalf of our clients, going beyond finished photography to reveal the research, sketches, diagrams, models, mockups, and designer perspectives that go into translating ideas into realities. Whether it’s articulating a facade to complement its urban context or peeling back the layers of history to reveal the cultural capital of an existing building, The Fold shows you our projects like you’ve never seen them before.
