The Permanent Representation of Belgium to the United Nations is one of Belgium's most active multilateral posts and one of the largest Belgian diplomatic posts in the world. The mission is Belgium's voice at the United Nations and represents the Belgian interests at the UN Headquarters. The mission is spearheaded by the Permanent Representative, Ambassador Philippe Kridelka. Karl Lagatie is the Deputy Permanent Representative.

On 25th September, the Leadership Summit “Forward Faster: Why Collective Action Matters” will be held in New York. This inspiring event, organised by the Permanent Mission of Belgium to the United Nations, the Watch & Jewellery Initiative 2030, UN Women, and the UN Global Compact, will address key topics such as gender equality, climate action, and biodiversity. We’re excited to announce Rosy Blue’s participation at this significant event. Today at Flanders House, we had the pleasure of hosting Dr. Rakoen Maertens, a postdoctoral researcher at Oxford University specializing in the psychology of misinformation, fake news, digital democracy, foreign interference and propaganda. 🇧🇪🇺🇳 The Permanent Representation of Belgium to the United Nations in New York is seeking a highly motivated policy officer who will support the team, mainly – but not exclusively – in the field of #sustainabledevelopment. 🔴 The closing date for the submission of applications is December 7th, 2023 at 6pm New York time. ℹ More information can be found here: https://lnkd.in/e3_gG4yRThe main duties will include: ➡ Foster the institutional relations with the NY-based partner organisations of the Belgian Development Cooperation (UNDP, United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), UNICEF, UN Women), including reporting and representing Belgian positions at the executive boards, within the broader context of United Nations Development System Reform. ➡ Follow-up climate and environmental files and negotiations in Second Committee and ECOSOC – including through reporting, representing and negotiating Belgian and/or agreed EU-positions. ➡ Gather key elements in the above mentioned fields by taking part in meetings, briefings, conferences, receptions, …; analyse these elements and provide colleagues at the mission and in Brussels with the necessary background information to allow them to optimize policy decisions and promote the multilateral interests of Belgium.
