In his article for Healio, Robert Herpen, MA, reports on a new partnership between a clinical diagnostics company, VERAVAS, Inc., and a biotech firm, Phanes Biotech, to develop a blood test for Alzheimer’s disease. This test will focus on detecting tau pathology, which is a key indicator of Alzheimer’s. The companies plan to use Veravas’ VeraBIND technology and Phanes’ special antibody to find changes in tau proteins in the brain. This blood test aims to make diagnosing Alzheimer’s disease faster and easier, by detecting tau protein abnormalities linked to the disease. Tau buildup in the brain is a major sign of Alzheimer’s and is usually detected through expensive and slow tests like tau PET imaging. By creating a blood test, the companies hope to make diagnosing Alzheimer’s quicker, more affordable, and more accessible. Early detection could lead to better treatments, potentially slowing the progression of the disease and improving patient care. The partnership is part of the growing effort to find practical ways to diagnose Alzheimer’s sooner, helping scientists and doctors better manage the disease.#Alzheimers #BloodTest #TauPathology #InnovativeDiagnostics #AlzheimersResearch #TrustScience #ENDALZ #AlzheimersAwareness https://lnkd.in/gzH873ay
Blood-based tau pathology test for Alzheimer’s disease in development healio.com - Caregivers for individuals with dementia face unique challenges. When patients exhibit additional complexities such as depression, behavioral disturbances, or low functional status, the caregiver's burden intensifies significantly. Research indicates a direct correlation between these factors and increased healthcare utilization among caregivers. This includes higher rates of emergency department visits, hospitalizations, and medication use. It is crucial to recognize the profound impact these challenges have on caregiver health and well-being. Get in touch with us: https://buff.ly/3DbmnMz #alzheimers #dementia
- P021 promotes and rescues neural formation (neurogenesis) and the brain’s ability to rewire (neuronal plasticity) by competitively enhancing the activity of brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF), leading to both prevention of the destruction of some nerve cells and regeneration and repair of destroyed nerve cells.
