The Pine Gate Renewables Community Impact Fund is inviting everyone — business partners and community members alike — to come together during the #MonthofGiving to support communities impacted by Hurricane Helene. Partnership levels from Terawatts to Watts are available to all - ensuring that everyone can meaningfully participate and collectively accomplish more together than as individuals. This year, Pine Gate will match all gifts donated, doubling the impact of your generosity. Together, let’s create lasting change and support those in need. Get involved today! 🤝 Donate at PineGateGiving.org - Marking one month since Hurricane Helene with a story of selflessness from another Pine Gate Hurricane Helene Hero. Marshall, North Carolina is a mountain town of 600 people that experienced unfathomable destruction. One of our employees, Eric Schneider, grew up in Marshall and sprang into action in the wake of the hurricane. He helped local store fronts and art studios by mucking out mud, silt, and debris that had accumulated after severe flooding. Additionally, Eric and his wife worked with the Madison County Cooperative Extension Office to receive, organize, and distribute aid that was coming in via helicopter and military vehicle convoy. Our thoughts remain with Marshall and the many small towns and “hollers” that are still deep in recovery efforts. Please help us continue to support recovery efforts by donating today: https://lnkd.in/er_c2nnS

To kick off your Monday, we're continuing our Hurricane Helene Heroes series highlighting Pine Gate Renewables staff who helped those in need after the storm with the hope that their actions might inspire you to support our new charitable initiative: www.pinegategiving.orgIn the immediate aftermath of Helene, when the Asheville community was understandably shaken and without adequate resources to respond to the unthinkable, Megan Witte evacuated to Georgia and worked to mobilize three truckloads of essentials from Atlanta to Asheville: non-perishable food, water, chainsaw fuel, baby formula, diapers, and so much more. She not only coordinated the collection and transportation of critical supplies, but also returned to Asheville to distribute them, working with people and organizations that hiked and air-dropped the supplies to isolated areas in need. Meg’s selfless support for her community is to be admired, and we are proud to call her our colleague. - In case you missed it, yesterday we launched the Pine Gate Community Impact Fund: pinegategiving.org. Over the next several weeks, we want to spotlight how our employees helped those in need after the storm with the hope that their actions might inspire YOU to support our new charitable initiative. Our first Hurricane Helene Hero spotlight is Steven Von Williamsen (he/him). In the wake of Hurricane Helene’s devastating damage, Steve went above and beyond to help those in need and has quickly become a community hero. When we think of Mr. Rogers’ advice to “look for the helpers,” Steve is the type of helper he was talking about. In the immediate aftermath of the storm, Steve hiked and biked into the devastated area of Black Mountain to personally assist several people to safety. He further took it upon himself to physically check on PGR team members we could not reach. He has distributed food, water, and fuel to many in the area, including in the critical window of time before coordinated relief efforts arrived. He secured the safety of the building and used resources from the office to distribute supplies and food from our pantry to those in need. Just last month, Steve received the first ever “Heart of the Company” award, which perfectly encapsulates who he is as a person, and he continues to display that daily.
- Pine Gate Renewables, together with its subsidiaries Blue Ridge Power and ACT Power Services, announced the establishment of a new philanthropic and community giving program, the Pine Gate Renewables Community Impact Fund. Before the end of this year, the Fund will donate $250,000 to eligible nonprofits working in communities within the Hurricane Helene FEMA Major Disaster Declaration areas. Additionally, Pine Gate Renewables has pledged to match every dollar donated to the Pine Gate Renewables Community Impact Fund in 2024, doubling the impact of each dollar donated by corporate and private partners. As an Asheville-based renewable energy enterprise with a third of its workforce located in areas impacted by Hurricane Helene, the Pine Gate Renewables Community Impact Fund launched as an employee-led initiative to support the nonprofit organizations leading storm response and recovery efforts. In the future, the fund will also support community organizations where the company develops and operates renewable energy projects. Eligible organizations are invited to apply for grants that provide measurable, positive impacts to those located in the Hurricane Helene FEMA Major Disaster Declaration areas across the Southeast.
