- Thank you to everyone who chose to support PLAN in 2024. Because of you Astrid, Elsa and others like them will have the legal counsel they need to find safety and obtain the right to stay here permanently. Thank you, thank you, thank you!
- This holiday season we shared immigrant stories. To close out this season of giving and gratitude, it’s our privilege to share Ricardo’s story today. We are so so awed by Ricardo’s willingness to share so vulnerably with us; his vulnerability definitely had an impact. After he spoke, audience members expressed that they had “not previously been aware of male domestic abuse.” Long term relationships of solidarity like the one we have with Ricardo drive us to do this work even in the face of daunting obstacles.
- At the storytelling event, Elsa shared that she continues to fight both for herself and in memory of her daughter, whom she tragically lost to cancer. Her daughter was a fighter and organizer who believed change was possible. Elsa reminded us all that coming together as a community allows us to take on challenges we can't face alone. Join us this giving season to mark a difference. PLAN operates on a modest budget, but our impact is immense. Whether you're a long-time supporter or a first-time donor, your contribution today will help us continue this vital work. Please donate today to support our critical work. All contributions up to $20,000 will be doubled through a match from a generous donor.https://planphx.org/giving
- We are profoundly grateful to Astrid for her courage in sharing her remarkable story with us and our community and for pushing us to change our mindset about the immigrant experience. When we recruited Astrid, we committed to making participation accessible for her and others. This included offering complimentary childcare at each of our preparation workshops as well as food, and an honorarium for each storyteller, ensuring they could fully engage in the journey leading up to the event. As we close out 2024, we hope you will make a year-end gift to help make sure that parents like Astrid can access the critical legal services and community spaces they need and want. If you give this season, your contribution will go even further as a generous donor will match all gifts dollar for dollar up to $20,000. Now that’s some holiday magic! Donate today at https://planphx.org/giving

- In case you missed our storytelling event in the fall or want to revisit the stories you heard again; we’re thrilled to announce that all the inspiring stories are now available on our blog. Today, we’re excited to spotlight Tarteel Alimam. Tarteel is a Sudanese American organizer, poet, activist, and social media content creator. She is passionate about racial justice and humanitarian activism, her work centers around the empowerment of the Muslim, Sudanese, and immigrant communities. Her story begins in 2004, when she left her home in Sudan for the U.S. at just eight years old. 📹: Katie Owens
- Thank you, thank you, thank you to everyone who donated to PLAN on Giving Tuesday. Your support is making our community a place where everyone belongs and feels safe. If you couldn’t support us this Giving Tuesday no worries, we are amidst the giving season and there’s still time to support your local immigrant community.www.planphx.org/giving
- Proposition 314 will directly impact our immigrant community as it gives local police the power to arrest anyone they suspect entered Arizona illegally from Mexico, essentially empowering racial profiling of anyone they think does not look “American” enough. It also permits state court judges to imprison and deport undocumented immigrants, even if they have close family ties or a pending immigration case, like many of our clients. It essentially allows the state of Arizona to completely go around the current federal immigration process. Amidst these coming changes, legal support is going to be more crucial than ever. Help us reach our goal of raising $2,500 this Giving Tuesday to ensure immigrants have access to the quality legal representation they need to win the right to stay with their loved ones in Arizona.www.planphx.org/giving #GivingTuesday #immigrantrights
