Today, we're celebrating America Recycles Day. Every year on Nov. 15, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency reminds the nation about its goal to increase the U.S. recycling rate from 32% to 50% by 2030. At PPG, we also have our own goal to drive to 100% process waste to reuse, recycle and recovery. To show our support of this holiday, we're proud to partner with Can Manufacturers Institute, Recycling is like Magic! and the Mon-Valley Recycling Center near our hometown headquarters community to help elementary school students at Environmental Charter School collect and recycle as many cans as possible through the end of April. Our PPG DuraNEXT™ energy curable coil coatings won first place in METALCON’s Top Products Awards. “We are thrilled to be recognized as the number one top product in the metal construction industry,” said Craig Smith, our global technical platform director, coil coatings. “Our innovative technologies boost productivity by eliminating the need for substrate heating and reducing curing time, as there’s no waiting for solvents to evaporate. We have announced leadership changes within our Industrial Coatings business, effective Jan. 1. Juliane Hefel, currently our vice president, Specialty Coatings and Materials (SCM), has been appointed senior vice president of Industrial Coatings in addition to her strategic and operational leadership of the global SCM business. She will report to Tim Knavish, PPG Chairman and CEO, and will also become a member of our operating committee. Hefel replaces Irene Tasi, currently our senior vice president, Industrial Coatings, who will become senior vice president and chief transformation officer. Tasi will continue to report to Knavish and remain on the company’s operating committee.Xiaobing Nie, currently our vice president, Industrial Coatings, China and global consumer products, and president, PPG Asia Pacific, will expand her leadership responsibilities with Industrial Coatings to now include all of Asia Pacific. Our employee volunteers and partner organizations live National STEM Day every day. Alongside the PPG Foundation, we support organizations in building the next generation of diverse and innovative leaders in STEM and funding programs that inspire learning and cultivate careers. Our partners at FIRST are providing students in Greensboro, N.C., and Huntsville, Ala., with opportunities to participate in hands-on STEM through robotics competitions and challenges. Meanwhile, we’ve teamed up with Women in Data Science (WiDS) Worldwide for Data Days across southern California. These events are designed to provide high school students with an immersive introduction to data science that builds data literacy and introductory data science skills through group activities. Our partners at S.T.R.E.A.M. Since writing her college thesis, Terry Warta has been at the forefront of developing high-tech paint film for automotive applications as technical manager at our PPG Advanced Surface Technologies joint venture with entrotech, Inc. These multi-layer films stick to a part’s surface to bring color, protection and decorative designs, while reducing energy consumption by up to 70%. We are proud to announce our PPG MOONWALK® automated paint mixing system has now been sold to body shops in all 50 U.S. states. "Reaching this milestone reflects the PPG MoonWalk system’s impact on the industry," said Tom Maziarz, our vice president, Americas, Automotive Refinish. “Digital innovation like this supports the next generation of painters and sets a new standard in the industry.” The PPG MoonWalk system, first introduced in 2019, has transformed body shop operations by improving paint mixing accuracy and reducing waste, with customers reporting a boost in productivity by more than 10%.
