About us
The mission of Project Access is to provide access to healthcare services for the uninsured residents of Howard County. This is a service project of the Howard County Medical Society, Inc. This program was a response to physicians’ and hospitals’ frustrations about the fragmented approach to providing health care to uninsured, low-income residents of the county. Over 2,250 individuals and $10.1 million dollars worth of health services have been documented as being donated since this program began in September of 2004. Last year, Project Access served 540 Howard County residents, with 153 physicians participating. Service levels ranged from simple preventative care measures to comprehensive oncology treatment. Additionally, over one million dollars worth of prescription medications have been obtained at no cost to our clients over the past two years, through our medication assistance program.
