- In Amazonian Ecuador and Peru, 30 Indigenous nations with similar outlooks and cultures have united to protect 86 million acres of tropical rainforest—a region more extensive than Italy and rich in both biodiversity and cultural heritage. “These are all dream cultures,” noted Atossa Soltani, Director of Global Strategy for the coalition Amazon Sacred Headwaters, at Pyxera Global’s event, “Decolonizing Digital Information.”https://lnkd.in/e9yc3Dws“The Sacred Headwaters—the cultures that live in that part of the world—spend every morning analyzing their dreams and understanding the world through the messages that come in from nature in their dreams. And the dream can be for them personally or for the community, it can be for someone else in the community. It’s this commitment to this other realm of understanding the spirit realm.” Soltani was one of three panelists highlighting the role of Indigenous perspectives in tackling today’s complex, interlinked challenges. Preserving Indigenous wisdom, a goal of Pyxera Global’s initiative, the Partnership for Digital Justice, is essential to this effort. “We’re not going to get out of the current mess using logic, rational and linear thinking,” noted Soltani. “It’s really through our dreams—we will get visions of what we must do.”https://lnkd.in/e9yc3Dws
From Plastic Waste to Global Wisdom: Paving the Way for a Regenerative Future Pyxera Global on LinkedIn - With its vast and stunning coastlines, Alaska faces a dual challenge: an estimated 20 to 30 tons of marine plastic per mile of shoreline and limited local manufacturing to handle such waste. But what if a single project could tackle both? Imagine transforming these plastics into concrete aggregate, manufactured locally, reducing costs, creating jobs, and benefiting Indigenous communities. This ambitious vision, championed by Pyxera Global and the GULF OF ALASKA KEEPER, would tackle pollution and redefine what’s possible for net-positive growth in Alaska and beyond. As co-founder of Gulf of Alaska Keeper Chris Pallister says, “It could put a lot of people to work. It could make a product that someone can sell. It’s magic, is what it is.”

The most authentic connections often emerge when we push past barriers. In celebration of #ProBonoWeek, Shilpa Ahluwalia with Pyxera Global India shared this story of how one volunteer's curiosity led to a special bond. "We recently concluded a virtual program with SAP supporting Farmer Producer Organizations (FPOs) in India, and one team's deep connection with their FPO partners truly touched my heart. Despite language differences between partners in North and South India creating communication challenges, one SAP volunteer went above and beyond, taking it upon himself to visit a marketplace with an FPO member to better understand their work firsthand. As they walked through the busy market, he witnessed the real challenges these farmers face in accessing markets for their products, and as he shared this experience with the team, side by side with the FPO member, the emotion in his voice and the spark in his eyes revealed the genuine bond they had formed together. It was a moment that went beyond any of our expectations for the program—a connection that transcended language barriers and project deliverables—something truly special."#ProBono and #SkillsBasedVolunteering create powerful opportunities to step outside of our comfort zones, better understand communities around the world, and build more authentic connections. That's how we accelerate change here at Pyxera Global. That's how we develop equitable, community-driven solutions to our world's most pressing challenges. -

The #skillsbasedvolunteering we celebrate during #ProBonoWeek can connect people in profound and intimate ways, inspiring trust and confidence in the solutions they create together. That's something Bianca Henao experienced firsthand at a recent #probono project launch event in Türkiye. Here's what she shared: "My work here reminds me of my time in the Peace Corps: traveling across the world, meeting so many different people, and forming the most profound connections. But what sets us apart at Pyxera Global is how *rapidly* we can bring people together. In Türkiye, we convened SAP employee volunteers from Germany, the US, and Brazil along with local leaders, and as usual, everyone was nervous at first; staff at our partner organizations had poured their hearts and souls into their mission, and volunteers were eager to start but unsure of their coming role. I could feel the anxious anticipation in the room. That’s when all the groundwork we did started to shine. We had trained the teams in cultural competencies, appreciative inquiry, and other techniques. We did ice breakers and team-building exercises. We did so much to prepare them for collaboration, so by the second week, they were on a roll. They were confident and they knew what they were going to create. The group feeling was, 'We've got this!' I always feel inspired after a launch, because we weave people together like magic. It's like a superpower. Pyxera Global has been doing this for so long, we’ve almost perfected this process—the art of connection. The trust we build through that connection leads to more honest conversations, deeper insights, and ultimately better and more lasting solutions. And when volunteers return home, they carry these incredible experiences into their own communities and work, too." That is the power of connection. At Pyxera Global, it’s our not-so-secret “secret” to #socialimpact. - Sometimes, the greatest impact comes from taking a chance on emerging leaders. In celebration of #ProBonoWeek, we recognize the talented and passionate volunteers who share their skills with social impact organizations around the world. Nicholas Gioioso shared a powerful story about a #probono engagement that helped catalyze the growth of an innovative social enterprise working with refugees. "One of my most memorable experiences was in 2018 when we partnered with a very young social enterprise in Sofia, Bulgaria, that was dedicated to providing refugees with dignified work and education in machine learning and AI technology. The first week of our FedEx Global Leadership Corps project threw us an unexpected challenge: the host organization suddenly lost its office space. But this is where the magic of cross-sector collaboration truly shined. We quickly connected with another host organization, which generously opened its doors and provided working space for our group, allowing the team to continue their month-long engagement. Since that pivotal pro bono project, it's been incredible to watch this organization’s trajectory. It has experienced remarkable growth, and its young leader has gained recognition as an emerging social impact leader in Europe and the Middle East. This experience reinforced something powerful about pro bono work. When we connect the right resources to emerging innovators at the right time, we can help accelerate positive change. It's not just about the immediate project deliverables; it’s about changing the future trajectory of organizations and communities." At Pyxera Global, we believe in the power of pro bono to unlock potential and create lasting impact. When global expertise meets local innovation, extraordinary things happen. That's why we continue to connect skilled volunteers with community changemakers around the world.#skillsbasedvolunteering

#ProBonoWeek reminds us that #skillsbasedvolunteering has the power to change hearts and minds in ways that last a lifetime. Kaylee Boalt shared her unforgettable experience of seeing this impact firsthand: "I had the experience of a lifetime while scoping a project for our Every Heartbeat Matters Pro Bono Corps with Edwards Lifesciences and Heart to Heart Global Cardiac Care in San José, Costa Rica, when they invited me to observe an open-heart surgery on a six-month-old patient at Costa Rica's national children's hospital. Although I was very nervous, I scrubbed up and put on a brave face! In the operating room, I was terrified (there's a reason I don't watch Grey's Anatomy or any other medical show) and had to leave at one point, but I caught my breath and went back in. I’m so glad I did. There is a certain music and choreography to an open-heart surgery. I was blown away by the coordination, trust, and expertise in the room as the surgeons and medical staff weaved their magic to deliver life-changing care for their patients. Seeing a real heartbeat... I was deeply moved. But the story didn't end there; a few days later, I met a mother at a nearby NGO whose child was recovering from a procedure at the hospital. As we talked, I realized her infant son was the same patient whose surgery I had witnessed. I had seen her child’s heart beating in the OR. It was miraculous. It was crazy. And I cried. I felt so connected to our work. This life-changing experience solidified what I already knew: volunteerism is critical, and the impacts of Pro Bono save lives." At Pyxera Global, stories like Kaylee’s remind us of the life-changing impact of #probono work. Please join us in celebrating #ProBonoWeek to honor the volunteers and organizations whose efforts create lasting change in communities around the world.
