We are proud to share Santander Bank, N.A.’s latest accomplishment with Openbank digital platform topping $2 billion in deposits since launching in the fourth quarter of 2024. The Retail Bank is an important part of our business strategy and future growth in the United States. This is the first of many Openbank milestones to come as we release new digital capabilities and products to serve our customers across the country, complementing our Northeast branch network.
Santander Bank announced today that the recently launched Openbank by Santander digital platform in the United States surpassed $2 billion in total deposits since going to the market in the fourth quarter of 2024. This achievement represents a significant milestone in the Santander US business strategy to efficiently boost national deposit acquisition that will fuel its leading Auto lending franchise and transform its Retail Bank. “Our aim is to become a national, digital bank with branches and reaching this deposit milestone at record pace is a testament to our customer-obsessed mindset, commitment to innovation, and global connectivity. Middle-income consumers are feeling optimistic about the economy and their own financial prospects in 2025, according to a new study from Santander US. Expectations of a recession dropped 17 percentage points in the past year, and nearly 64% of middle-income households believe the job market will be stronger in 2025. Overall, 76% of middle-income households expect their financial situations to improve. As consumer sentiment improves, consumers may start to act on pent-up demand for vehicles. Access to vehicles continues to be a vital part of the lives of middle-income Americans. The survey found nearly half are considering purchasing a vehicle this year and 1 in 3 intending to purchase. These prospective buyers have begun to take action – 65% have started doing research, 46% have recently visited a dealership and 40% have taken a test drive. We’re thrilled to celebrate the graduation of the impressive 10th cohort of our signature Cultivate Small Business program! This milestone marks 736 entrepreneurs served and $2.4 million in unrestricted grant funding awarded to small business owners in the food industry across six major markets, including Massachusetts, New York, Rhode Island, Philadelphia, Dallas and Miami. The program reflects Santander’s commitment to supporting the growth of woman-, immigrant-, and BIPOC-owned businesses in low-to-moderate income neighborhoods through mentorship, funding, and a food-focused curriculum.
