Jaretta Roland recently celebrated 50 years working as a Labor & Delivery patient care tech at Ascension St. John Medical Center. When Jaretta applied, she prayed to God every day and told him that if she got the job, she would do everything she was called to do in order to see it through. Her genuine spirit not only personifies the culture of Ascension St. John, but it also shows the way we show up to serve our patients. Last week, our Market CEO Bo Beaudry hosted Ascension President Eduardo Conrado here in Tulsa. Together, they walked the floors of Ascension St. John Medical Center, visited with our teams and talked about the incredible care that is delivered by the exceptional people that come to work here every day. This month, we're celebrating the milestone anniversaries of our associates - an incredible 9,000 years of combined service. Our associates live out our mission and show up for our community daily and we were proud to share this legacy with Eduardo.

Shawnte Hildebrandt, with Ascension St. John Medical Center, was recently named a DAISY Foundation award recipient. Shawnte was nominated by her patient who was brought in as a result of a hit and run. The patient is also facing homelessness. When the ambulance picked her up paramedics had to cut off her clothing. Having limited resources and it being winter, she was concerned about what would happen once she was transferred/discharged. Shawnte went out of her way to make sure her patient had clothes without being asked. Her patient felt she was really cared for regardless of her status. "She is everything you want from a health care professional. Helpful in every way required and any way possible without judgement." The #DAISYAward is presented to bedside nurses who display professionalism, exceptional care and leadership. Thank you and congratulations on this deserved honor, Shawnte! 💚🌼💚
Over the past 6 years, our Human Trafficking Education and Response Program has helped more than 350 victims of human trafficking with a safe place to access healthcare and connection to essential resources. In recognition of our efforts, Sara Gadd, our Human Trafficking Education and Response program manager, recently joined community members and accepted a proclamation recognizing January as Human Trafficking Prevention Month from Tulsa Mayor Monroe Nichols and the Tulsa City Council.
