About us
St. Mary’s is a local, independent healthcare organization with a proud 120-year tradition of providing quality, compassionate care to New York’s Fulton-Montgomery region. Our 1,400+ team members share a passion for excellence, a commitment to our community, and a fundamental belief that a career in healthcare is life changing for patients and providers alike. Our supportive environment encourages input, creativity, and collaboration. This combination enables us to attract and retain talented individuals who embrace opportunities to better serve our rural community. As a result, in addition to inpatient care at our 130-bed hospital, we offer a robust array of outpatient services where our community needs them most—close to home. These include but are not limited to primary care and pediatrics; urgent and emergency care; general and minimally invasive (including robotic) surgery; oncology/cancer care; behavioral health and addiction medicine; obstetrics and gynecology; otolaryngology (ENT); gastroenterology; podiatry; infusion therapy; sports medicine, physiatry, and rehabilitation services; and a headache center. We even have a community pharmacy to make it as easy as possible for patients to obtain their medication. And we’re adding pulmonology and a sleep center. In keeping with the mission of our founders, the Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondelet, St. Mary’s pays special attention to the poor and underserved. We remain committed to meeting the spiritual, social, emotional, and physical needs of our patients and to providing the necessary resources—within and outside the workplace—to take great care of our St. Mary’s family.

- Congratulations to one of our recent VIP (Values in Practice) award winners - Kaydince Williams-Labrake. Kaydince is a security officer in our Security Department. Kaydince's nomination reads, "Kaydince is a security officer and often a familiar face at the front desk, greeting patients and visitors with a smile. Recently, while working at the desk at the Memorial campus, a rather frequent patient came in intoxicated and combative. Another security officer witnessed Kaydince display the most professional and compassionate service seen in a long time. Without missing a beat, he rendered aide and obtained services and helped transport the patient to the ED with assist from a CDU staff member. Kaydince was textbook of the mission and values at St Mary's, and he certainly deserves recognition." Congratulations Kaydince!

- Congratulations to Kayla Brooks, RN, MSN, CCRN! Kayla works as a nurse in our Emergency Department and is our newest DAISY Awardee! A patient submitted her nomination because of Kayla's compassion and dedication to the mission of St. Mary's. She provided an exceptional patient experience because of her approach, compassion and dedication. The nomination read, "I came in for a very private problem I was having. Kayla was the first nurse I saw. There was a male doctor in the intake room with her and I did not feel comfortable talking about my problem in front of them. Kayla told me she needed to know what was happening so she could get the right things done for me. I told her it was very personal, and I did not feel comfortable talking to her with the man in the room. Kayla made the doctor leave the room and she pulled the curtains. She told me that she was a sexual assault nurse and that I could talk to her about anything, and she could get me what I needed. After I spoke with her and cried with her in the room, she told me to wait a few minutes. Kayla made sure that I had a female provider by talking to them to make sure a female could take care of me. She did not make me feel uncomfortable or judge me and she listened to my fears. I got life changing news that day. I may have left the ER before being seen if she had not been the person she was. I hope that there are more nurses like her working when other people go there for help."
- Congratulations to Cindy DePietro, LPN for achieving clinical ladder III. Cindy works as an LPN in our St. Johnsville Urgent Care Center. She is an integral part of the team. She currently is a member of the safe patient handling committee, and she is always looking at ways to enhance patient experience and quality care initiatives. Cindy has a strong commitment to providing compassionate care and she always leads by example! We are grateful to have her as a part of our urgent care family! When asked why she chooses St. Mary's, "I like the flexibility to learn new skills throughout my career. I have learned endo, emergency room and urgent care as well as training on registration."
