Shutdowns among new startups continue to decline. Our one-year shutdown proxy — the share of Stripe Atlas C corps whose registered agent service lapsed within a year of incorporation — has fallen to 27%, the lowest level since the VC winter of 2022. At the same time, Atlas incorporations increased 92%, and the share of founders reporting that they’re building AI products grew nearly 5x. Are AI startups finding more traction than skeptics expected, or are AI tools lowering the cost of building and extending startup runways? - Stripe reposted this
Today, we treat respiratory infections like the cold and flu as a minor nuisance. The evidence increasingly suggests otherwise. - Healthy people spend about 5% of their lives sick with respiratory infections. - Around 65 million respiratory infections progress to serious lower respiratory disease each year, accounting for around 7% of deaths from major causes in the U.S. - While research is early, it seems plausible that society has underestimated the long-term health implications of seemingly benign infections (e.g.: 9.8x asthma risk by age 6 if infected with HRV between birth and age 3 in a high-risk cohort; 2.2-3x schizophrenia potential risk for infant if mother is infected by flu during pregnancy). - Routine respiratory illness imposes roughly 600Bglobalproductivitylossinnon−pandemicyears.−Achievingbroadprotectionagainstrespiratorypathogenswouldmeaningfullyreducepandemicrisk.Thisisachallengingproblemtosolve,butnewplatformtechnologies,advancesinourunderstandingofhumanimmunology,biologicaldatasets,andproteindesigntoolsmeanwehaveourstrongesteversuiteofapproachesfortacklingit.Wethinktwoproductsworkingintandemcouldmeaningfullyreducethisburden:−Broad−spectrumpreventatives(i.e.ashotorpillthatprovide>90600B global productivity loss in non-pandemic years. - Achieving broad protection against respiratory pathogens would meaningfully reduce pandemic risk. This is a challenging problem to solve, but new platform technologies, advances in our understanding of human immunology, biological data sets, and protein design tools mean we have our strongest ever suite of approaches for tackling it. We think two products working in tandem could meaningfully reduce this burden: - Broad-spectrum preventatives (i.e. a shot or pill that provide >90% protection against >90% of respiratory viruses) - Air cleaning technologies that remove pathogens from the air, particularly in high-density environments like offices, schools, and public transit. So today we’re launching Intercept, a 600Bglobalproductivitylossinnon−pandemicyears.−Achievingbroadprotectionagainstrespiratorypathogenswouldmeaningfullyreducepandemicrisk.Thisisachallengingproblemtosolve,butnewplatformtechnologies,advancesinourunderstandingofhumanimmunology,biologicaldatasets,andproteindesigntoolsmeanwehaveourstrongesteversuiteofapproachesfortacklingit.Wethinktwoproductsworkingintandemcouldmeaningfullyreducethisburden:−Broad−spectrumpreventatives(i.e.ashotorpillthatprovide>90500M philanthropic initiative that aims to radically reduce the burden of respiratory infections, and eventually eliminate them altogether, by advancing these products through a combination of: - Grants and equity to de-risk early projects and advance them far enough for capital markets to kick in and take them the rest of the way. Anchor funders include Stripe, Anthropic, Flu Lab, The OpenAI Foundation, and individuals from Jane Street. - A customer advisory board of interested buyers who will provide important customer input to ensure the products being developed are the right ones. It includes Stripe, Anthropic, BXP, Inc., Kilroy Realty Corporation, Jane Street, JPMorganChase, and Mastercard. - Engagement with regulators to accelerate the support and obtain the approvals required to bring both sets of products to the market. Respiratory infections aren't inevitable. If we can develop these technologies and deploy them at scale, the change would be profound. More information in the first comment. - Stripe reposted this
After seven extraordinary years building Stripe's go-to-market engine, I'm stepping into a new role: Vice Chair of Stripe. As Vice Chair, I'll represent the company with business, government, and policy leaders around the world, alongside Patrick Collison and John Collison. The internet economy is at an inflection point. Governments, regulators, and multilateral bodies are making once-in-a-generation decisions about how digital commerce is regulated and enabled—decisions that will set the operating conditions for entrepreneurs for decades. Stripe serves millions of businesses in nearly every country on earth. We have both the standing and the responsibility to shape those decisions. That's what I'll be doing: engaging heads of government, trade bodies, and global business leaders to advocate for decisions that advance entrepreneurship and increase the economic dynamism that too many parts of the world have been starved of. I've spent the last 25 years of my career building things, teams, markets, relationships. This next chapter is about using all of that on behalf of the businesses that trust Stripe to power their growth. As I start this new role, I'm delighted to have Tyler Bryson take over as Stripe's Chief Revenue Officer. Tyler brings two decades of experience building, scaling, and leading revenue-generating teams and has had a tremendous impact leading our Americas business. He knows our customers, understands what they need and we’re all very excited for his leadership as Stripe’s CRO. https://lnkd.in/e8cKgrwr

Introducing Stripe Directory, a new way for you (and your agents) to search for businesses on the Stripe network. https://stripe.directory - Stripe reposted this
I just got off stage in Paris at Stripe Tour, talking about how French businesses are becoming more international. One in three customers of French businesses on Stripe now comes from outside France. French companies on Stripe generate 22% of their revenue internationally, up from 16% in 2020. Reaching customers in Mumbai or São Paulo, or giving them the option to pay later, means offering the payment methods they already use. That's where Link comes in. Just a couple of months ago we announced that Link surpassed 250 million users. Today I shared that it has more than 300 million, and supports Klarna, Pix, UPI, and stablecoins. I was just at Stripe Tour Paris talking about a new frontier in fraud: token theft. Fraudsters have moved beyond stealing money and credentials — now they're stealing compute. Every prompt, every API call, every token costs real money. As AI gets embedded in more products, token theft is becoming one of the most urgent threats facing AI businesses. Here's everything we announced at Stripe Tour Paris: https://lnkd.in/gf4q-Fbs

I recently wrote about what I've been working on the past two years, and others have built over the past decade: the infrastructure that keeps Stripe's entire developer ecosystem in sync with every API change we ship. We built an OpenAPI-based pipeline that flows API changes from their initial definitions all the way to our SDKs, docs, and other developer products in lockstep, letting engineers focus on their product instead of manually propagating their changes to every developer product that Stripe offers. I've been thinking a lot about the future of user experience and what it looks like when commerce becomes AI-native. Had a great "cheeky chat" with Jonathan Arena from New Generation about exactly that—the future of commerce, the web, and creativity.
`` - Last week, agent traffic surpassed human traffic on the internet for the first time. Agents browsing webpages account for some of that traffic, but our data points to a more significant reason for this growth: agents building software. Agent traffic to our documentation grew more than 10x in 2025 and now makes up nearly 40% of docs traffic. We’ve also seen exponential growth in new Stripe CLI users over the past year, with 70% of CLI requests for API resources coming from agents. Our data shows that agents are now fully capable of independently writing code and integrating with APIs like Stripe’s. And yet, many of the steps adjacent to writing code—such as provisioning infrastructure, managing credentials, setting up accounts, and connecting services together—are still too hard for agents to do on their own. Today, we’re expanding Stripe Projects to solve this with new agent integrations, additional providers, and new developer controls. Read our blog post: https://lnkd.in/dWQaTpAM.
