- "Of all the forms of inequality, injustice in health is the most shocking and inhuman." – Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Dr. King spoke these powerful words during a press conference in Chicago on March 25, 1966, at the annual meeting of the Medical Committee for Human Rights. He emphasized that health care is a basic human right, and that disparities in health access and outcomes are among the most devastating forms of injustice, as they can lead to preventable suffering and loss of life. At Sunflower Health Plan, we are inspired by Dr. King’s unwavering belief in equity and justice. His words guide our commitment to addressing health disparities and ensuring that all Kansans have access to the care and resources they need to thrive. This MLK Day, let’s honor his legacy by working together to create a healthier, more equitable future for everyone. How are you carrying forward Dr. King’s vision in your community? Share your thoughts with us.#MLKDay #HealthEquity #Justice #CommunityCare #SunflowerHealthPlan #Kansas
- At Sunflower Health Plan, we’re committed to spreading awareness about cervical cancer prevention and early detection. Did you know that Native American women experience disproportionately higher rates of cervical cancer compared to other racial and ethnic groups? According to the CDC, Native women are more likely to be diagnosed at later stages and face challenges in accessing regular screenings and care. Here’s how we can make a difference: Get vaccinated: The HPV vaccine is a powerful tool in preventing cervical cancer. Stay screened: Regular Pap tests and HPV tests help catch early changes before they turn into cancer. Advocate: Encourage access to care and culturally appropriate health resources for all communities. This week, we’re also celebrating Turquoise Thursday, a day to wear turquoise to show support for those impacted by cervical cancer. Share your #TurquoiseThursday look with us and help spread the message of hope and prevention. Together, we can protect our health, raise awareness, and work toward equitable care for all. Schedule your screening or learn more today.#CervicalCancerAwareness #HealthEquity #HPVPrevention #SunflowerHealthPlan #Kansas
