Our team is back from an action-packed #ClimateWeek and feeling grateful to our partners, inspired by the collective action we can take when we work together, and appreciative of the moments to connect the dots between people, ideas, and projects. đź’ˇ Sharing just a few of the highlights:MarĂa Ortiz PĂ©rez and a group of international leaders agreed that it is possible to have a visionary narrative of what our international climate governance system could look like, while still collecting quick wins and responding to the urgency of the moment. Greg Gershuny and Michael Fitzpatrick asked business leaders to imagine what they might do with a magic wand as they work hard to meet their net zero commitments. Ingrid Irigoyen shared the impact that climate-leading companies through Zero Emission Maritime Buyers Alliance (ZEMBA) have had in kickstarting a market-driven transition to cleaner fuels in the global shipping industry. John Kerry and Vijay V. Vaitheeswaran talked private capital and the government's role in getting it to move through de-risking and concessional funding. Aspen Ideas Katie Cassetta Graham Veysey Laura Schifter, Chancellor John King, the Known team and others brainstormed on what it will take to empower all young people with the understanding, knowledge, and skills they need for success in our changing climate. - 🌍 How can gender equity enhance our fight for climate justice? Why is it crucial to have the voices of women and girls heard in critical climate conversations? In our latest episode of #AspenIgnites, we delve into these questions with Lola A., Executive Director of the Aspen Global Innovators Group and Co-Chair of the Aspen Forum on Women and Girls, alongside The Washington Post's Climate Reporter Shannon Osaka. Women and girls are disproportionately affected by climate change, yet their insights are often overlooked in research and decision-making processes. Investing in them can create a "multiplier effect" that benefits individuals, families, communities, and society as a whole. Their unique perspectives and holistic problem-solving approaches are invaluable in addressing the complex challenges of climate change. Join us as we explore how to integrate gender equality and resilience into healthcare, education, climate research, and essential infrastructure to strengthen our overall climate resilience. https://lnkd.in/dWnTyqtW

As part of #ClimateWeek, Known welcomed our partners at The Aspen Institute, along with a powerhouse lineup of leaders and action-takers led by SUNY Chancellor John King and Aspen's Laura Schifter, in our New York office, today to address how we can change the narrative and bring people together to secure our shared future. The mission is clear: empower young people with the skills and knowledge they need to thrive in a rapidly changing world. Partners from education, climate, philanthropy, marketing, and advocacy came together to explore collaborative opportunities to strengthen social and political will, locally and globally. Together, we are taking bold steps toward a sustainable future for our youth. In 2022, the U.S. Latino sports industry generated a $21 billion market. With every gold medal, home run, and new milestone, this achievement reflects decades of Latino athletes reshaping the sports industry and bringing more representation into the mainstream. With every win, Latino athletes are driving home the undeniable truth: our presence isn't just part of American culture, it's transforming it. This #HispanicHeritageMonth, we honor the Latino Market Makers whose influence continues to inspire, shape industries, and highlight the richness of our community. Visit our webpage to celebrate their lasting influence: https://lnkd.in/eek86sRQ #HHM #LatinoMarketMakers - Mitch Landrieu was lieutenant governor of Louisiana in 2005 when Hurricane Katrina devastated the city of New Orleans and its surrounding area. When he was elected mayor of New Orleans in 2010, the city was still recovering from the storm and in the midst of dealing with the nearby Deepwater Horizon oil spill. All this to say: he knows what it takes to lead in difficult times. We caught up with Landrieu at this summer's Aspen Ideas Festival where he spoke onstage about what makes a great leader. This is Leading Voices, a new series from the Aspen Institute where every Wednesday you’ll hear directly from leaders about what it takes to lead and how they got to where they are. 💡 Follow us to make sure you don't miss any leadership lessons along the way.
